Nebraska is one of two states to carry wines from this esteemed producer from Friuli. We are impressed with this wine region and this winery is special. While this region is most famous for whites wines, the red wines will capture your imagination too.

Join Melissa for a wine tasting tonight at Pacific Cellars of new spring wines that are popping up on the shelves. This is an informal, Open House, stop-by-when-you-want between 5pm and 8pm type of tasting. No reservations needed. 4 wines for $10 or free for wine club members or with the purchase of a bottle. There will also be a limited number of charcuterie boxes available for $20 per box.

This afternoon we wrapped up our week of wine events with Nicola Biscardo Selections at Dante with an Italian islands wine tasting focusing on the wines of Sicily, Sardinia, and Ischia. What a perfect way to celebrate National Wine Day!

If you couldn't make it to one of Nicola's wine tastings or dinners in Lincoln or Omaha this week so far, tonight is your night! Join us at Vino Mas in Omaha from 5pm-7pm. Tasting of five Italian wines from Nicola Biscardo Selections will be free for wine club members and $5 for the general public, though why not consider joining the club?!?

We have 9 events this week in Lincoln, Fremont and Omaha - dinners, tastings and classes, so something for everyone. Thank you for joining us virtually on our Amalfi Coast trip! Here are some final photos from Ischia and Tufo Campagna. We still have some openings for our Northern Italy trip coming up October 4-13 (fly into Milan and out of Verona), and while we are sold out for the May 2025 Amalfi Coast trip, we are taking reservations for the May 2026 Amalfi Coast trip already! Of course since our Amalfi Coast trip is a wine and food focus, we had to do a second post today about Antonio Mazella Vineyards and Cantina on the island of Ischia, our next stop on our trip. The hills are so steep that they must hand harvest them because they are not accessible by machines. They crush the grapes in a cave, siphon the juice through a tube going to a tank in a small boat in the bay and then transport the juice by boat to the winery. The indigenous grape is Biancolella and the video at the end of the photos is of Lucia describing Villa Campagnano. Alla nostra salute!

If you've been following our Amalfi Coast trip happening now, led by The Italian Vine founders and owners - Mark & Kimberly Wells McDonald, you know our next stop was Matera, also known as the city of the "Sassi" and one of the few cities in the word continuously inhabited since prehistoric times, with buildings built into and on top of caves, and named the 2019 European Capital of Culture. While the city is as impressive as its history, of course so are the food and wine!

Our Amalfi Coast trip is keeping us so busy with daily adventures that we have a ton of posting to catch up on, but couldn't wait to share photos from our visit to Cantina di Venosa! Mark enjoyed discussing the barrel aging process with the winemaker during our tour. The winery produces 2 million bottles a year, including Verbo Rosso, Bianco & Rosato that many of you know and love!
