The Therese M Gigante Foundation would like to thank everyone who helped make this years fundraiser a huge success! We are humbled by the tremendous support the foundation has received from you.

A special thank you to all those who donated raffle baskets, donated their time, donated money, purchased raffles, bought tee-shirts, or attended the event!

Planning these events requires the help of many. We know that everyone’s time is valuable. We appreciate everything done by others to make this day a special one to raise funds for charity and to remember Therese for her giving ways.

We thank the Lindenhurst FD and Rose Catering for their hospitality.

2022 FOUNDATION UPDATE

To our Family and Friends, AUGUST 2022

We want to thank everyone who has donated their time and money to help get the TMG Foundation up and running. Those who knew Therese know how appreciative and humble she would be to know how generous her family and friends have been.

The idea of the foundation came about immediately after Therese's passing in late 2019 when the William Rall Elementary teachers asked to start a scholarship in her name for a graduating senior from Lindenhurst Senior High School. As her family began to put the foundation together we quickly realized that we wanted the foundation to also help those in need as Therese always did. We believed that the foundation was an ideal way to carry on her name and her spirit of doing for others.

I would like to highlight some of the good that has been done in Therese's memory as a result of your generosity:

Food pantry donations including a $1,000 check to fund Thanksgiving dinners to the needy
Numerous donations to individuals in need, most of whom are suffering from a severe injury or illness. Many by way of "Go Fund Me" type collections
$5,000 in donations to Stony Brook University Children's Hospital to support sick children and their families who are battling disease and financial hardship
Donation in support of Widowed Not Alone, a young widows organization
Donation in support of "Grief Camp" for children who lost a parent
2020, 2021 and 2022 Senior Scholarships
Donations in support of other fundraisers dedicated to supporting those in need
As many of you might recall, we had to postpone our first fundraiser in early 2020 due to COVID but we were fortunate to be able to reschedule the fundraiser later that year. Despite the trepidation of many during the early days of reopening from the shutdown, the fundraiser was a huge success!

We look forward to our second fundraiser, on September 10th, 2022. With your help, we plan on continuing our efforts to help those in need. Some of the plans include:

Continue to provide assistance to children with cancer or severe illness. In fact, the organizational proceeds from the 50/50 at this year's fundraiser will be matched by the TMG Foundation and go directly to SBU Children's Hospital. The donation will be used to buy food, toys and transportation to directly help the children and their families.
Continue to donate to sick or injured individuals as the needs arise throughout the year.
Continue to donate to local food pantries
Plan to assist families during the holiday season by "adopting" families.
The TMG Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable organization incorporated under NYS law. Be assured that 100% of the proceeds from your donations are used for charitable purposes. No fees or compensation are ever taken, as the foundation is run strictly by volunteers.

GREETINGS AMID A HAPPY 2020!
I know. Sorry. Just trying to be positive with the pandemic and ever changing health guidance on it, unemployment and associated hardships, lack of socialization for all especially our school age children, national political divide, riots, protests, and threats of killer hornets and soon to be hurricanes. If we can just get through 2020 we should be good for a while! Right?????? Certainly now is a good time for us all to stand together for a good cause!

A LOOK BACK
In March the emerging pandemic caused us to cancel the first Therese M. Gigante Fundraiser which was to kick off the inception of the TMG Foundation. The TMG Foundation has been established to fund a scholarship for a graduating LHS senior and to help those in need, especially in our community. In its short existence the TMGF has been able to set aside scholarship money for the immediate future. In addition, the Foundation has recently donated to a widows fund and to a local family raising money to pay for funeral expenses after tragically losing a child.

A LOOK AHEAD
Going forward, a portion of the proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will be used to assist local food pantries and to support organizations that provide assistance to childhood cancer sufferers. Rest assured that other than some money spent on fundraising events, 100% of the remaining proceeds will go to a worthy charitable cause in honor of Therese M. Gigante.

LOCATION: Lindenhurst FD Pavilion 555 Heling Blvd. Lindenhurst

FOOD AND ADULT BEVERAGES WILL BE PROVIDED

OVER 60 GENEROUS RAFFLE BASKETS ARE AVAILABLE (TICKETS AVAILABLE AT THE EVENT)

THE 100 DOLLAR SUPER RAFFLE WILL FINALLY BE DRAWN

50/50 RAFFLES (TICKETS AVAILABLE AT THE EVENT)

ALL OF THE RAFFLE WINNERS NEED NOT BE PRESENT

TMG T-SHIRTS AND REUSABLE CUPS WILL BE AVAILABLE


In keeping with new social norms for social distancing and overall safety, the venue has been moved outside to the Lindenhurst FD Pavilion picnic area. This is a rain or shine event. A tent will be provided for outdoor food and beverage service while raffles will be stationed indoors. Current health guidelines will be adhered to with masks being required indoors when moving about for raffle selection etc., and outdoors when social distancing cannot be maintained. Occupancy will be monitored to ensure conformance with current guidelines. Please assist us in making this event successful. We strive to keep it safe while raising resources to help others.

For those of you unable to join us due to health concerns we will have all items and raffles available at the venue before the event begins. So from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm you can come down and enter for the raffles in a very controlled and socially distanced manner within the facility. Keep in mind that food and beverages will not be available until 2:00pm. In addition we are striving to have pictures of all raffle prizes available online prior to the event so that we can provide assistance for raffle selection in advance.

In closing I would like to thank all of our supporters for their generous donations of raffle baskets and such. In addition, a special thank you to the North Lindenhurst Fire Dept who was to graciously hold the original event on March 21st, and to the Lindenhurst FD who has graciously enabled us to hold the event outdoors next month. As a lifelong Lindenhurst resident, I have always been proud of the way the Lindenhurst community supports one another. God Bless you all and stay healthy. See you soon.

In light of the current health emergency and in the interest of everyone, the NLFD has temporarily closed their facility. We look forward to rescheduling the event at the earliest convenience.
