Today the company took advantage of some warmer weather and worked with our chauffeurs to review their needs during tower ladder operations . The probationary members then moved on to basic handline operations with our senior members. This also afforded our chauffeurs a great opportunity to flow water through both handlines and through the tower.

April 15th at 1306 hours the Truck Co was activated for mutual aid to the East Farmingdale Fire District 1-5-0 for a Ladder at a waste facility fire at 19 Nancy St. On arrival the crew of 1-6-4 setup in tower ladder operations on exposure 3 immediately and later assisted in handline operations. The fire was completely knocked down and over hauled after 6 hours. Additional mutual aids from Amityville 1-1-0, Babylon 1-2-0, Copiague 1-3-0, Deer Park 1-4-0, NAFCo 1-7-0, NBFCo 1-8-0, West Babylon 1-9-0, Wyandanch 1-10-0, North Lindenhurst 1-11-0, Melville 2-5-0, West Islip 3-17-0, Bethpage 900, South Farmingdale 970, Farmingdale 920, Huntington Manor 2-4-0 & Massapequa 630. Outstanding operations by the EFFCo Chiefs. Honorable mention to Suffolks FINEST, for assisting in the immediate handline operations as EFFCo arrived on scene and began assessing the scene.

The members of the Union Hook & Ladder Co No 1 extend our condolences to and the family of PO Diller whose life was taken tragically while he questioned a driver at a bus stop.

Congratulations to Ex Captain Frank Fee of Freeport Truck Company #1 on his retirement from the FDNY. Frank was the senior man of the elite Rescue Co #1 serving 32 years, and the last member of Rescue 1 that operated at the World Trade Center. Congratulations on an outstanding career brother!
