RENO UPDATE!
We have had to pull the team to do some maintenance and updates on opening homes to be able to keep posting new ones here for you to rent. BUT we are back at the renovation (for now)!!

Outside: New metal roof is on! The decks have been updated and built!! The foundation repair is completed and backfilled. A new well has been drilled! The house is also now connected to the county sewer (I know exciting stuff 😉)!

Inside: We have a furnace!! All outside walls and attic have been blown in with insulation to make sure it says toasty and uses less energy. Ran new electric. DRYWALL is going up!!!!!! I love this stage where the look of the home I imagine starts coming together! OK take a look at what we did with the main bedroom!!! 😍

Up next we will be finishing all drywall, installing a new kitchen, bath, hot water heater, sanding wood floors and installing flooring.

LISBON — Families can have some fun, learn about resources available to them and take advantage of a free family bonding opportunity during Family Fun Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Columbiana County Fairgrounds.

“We just want to kick off the summer in a positive way,” Columbiana County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board Director of Operations and Evaluation Jennifer Whitman, MPA, said.

Committee members for the event, which is open to multiple counties, met recently at the fairgrounds to map out the locations for the various venues at the fairgrounds which will be part of Family Fun Day, from bounce houses and games to free food and information.

Whitman said everyone is asked to use the Vista Drive entrance to the fairgrounds and park in the upper midway area. There will be signs and volunteers directing traffic for parking.

The event is for families with children ages birth to 12 years old. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Funding came in the form of a $10,000 grant provided by the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund and the Ohio Department of Children and Youth given to the Northeast Ohio Regional Prevention Council and Stark County Family Council. Lori Colian, county MHRSB Director of Treatment and Supportive Services, chairs the prevention council and was a member of the committee for Family Fun Day. Jennifer Brindle, Ohio Children’s Trust Fund program manager at the Stark County Family Council, also served on the committee, along with Lynsi Beagle, county MHRSB Director of Prevention and Outreach, and Whitman.

Colian said the whole idea behind the funding is to do a family fun event for families who might not otherwise be able to attend an event like this.

“It gives them an opportunity to connect as a family and to connect with resources available,” she said.

There will be a bounce house, big trucks, a photo booth, DJ for music, free food, all kinds of games and activities. The event is required to include information about the Imagination Library Science of Reading, a Triple P seminar for Positive Parenting Plus, resource tables, a welcome table or tent with Ohio Children’s Trust Fund family workbooks and event information, along with the games and activities for children and the free food, drinks and snacks.

More than 27 tables will be set up for the resource fair featuring information and brochures about resources available to families. Some of the agencies to be represented include Head Start, Women Infants and Children, Community Action Agency, Akron Children’s Hospital, Counseling Center, Columbiana County Veterans Services, county Board of Developmental Disabilities, Kent State University, the Way Station, Department of Job and Family Services and Family Success Network.

Each agency or organization must offer a free activity for kids.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was planning to come with a radar gun to see how fast children can run. The Lisbon Fire Department, the county Humane Society, the county Sheriff’s Office and North Star Ambulance were all scheduled to come.

Families will also receive a swag bag with goodies and information.

Beagle said this is a chance for families to make memories.

Information was sent out to area schools and to entities in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties, along with schools in Stark County, to get the word out about the free event.

Your water service will be disrupted Thursday June 13th, 2024, to allow for the installation of a new connection to our system. The work should take place between 2am to 12pm. We apologize for this inconvenience.

YOU ARE ADVISED TO BOIL YOUR WATER BEFORE CONSUMING OR USE AN ALTERNATIVE SOURCE OF DRINKING WATER SUCH AS BOTTLED WATER FROM THE TIME THE WORK BEGINS AT 2AM UNTIL YOU RECEIVE NOTIFICATION THAT THE BOIL ORDER HAS BEEN LIFTED. ONCE THE WATER SERVICE HAS BEEN RESTORED, FLUSH WATER FROM ALL THE TAPS USED FOR DRINKING AND COOKING FOR AT LEAST 3 MINUTES. WATER SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO A ROLLING BOIL AND BOILED FOR AT LEAST ONE MINUTE BEFORE CONSUMPTION. THIS IS ONLY A PRECAUTION. WATER SAMPLES WILL BE COLLECTED AND ANALYZED TO CONFIRM GOOD WATER QUALITY.

This project may also cause additional disruptions in water quality including discolored water and/or potentially a temporary increase in lead levels in the drinking water.

As a standard practice the USEPA recommends the following actions to reduce possible lead exposure in drinking water:

• If water has not been used for several hours, run the tap until there is a noticeable temperature drop. Then, run water for 30 seconds to 3 minutes before using it for drinking and cooking. This helps flush water that may have contained lead that may have leached from plumbing.
• Use cold water for cooking, drinking, and preparing baby formula. Boiling the water will not reduce lead.
• Clean your faucet aerator regularly.
