Historical Empathy. It is what I feel a lot as a Historian. It is what drives my passion and gives purpose to it. It is what I want others to experience when they are exposed to the past; whether through artifacts, touching an old document, wandering a cemetery, exploring old buildings and/or the land they were once upon, or looking into the eyes of someone from an old photograph. What level of Historical Empathy have you known? What level do you want to experience? I'll meet you there.

Coffee hour tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the museum! See you there! The heat will be on, coffee ready to brew and homemade donuts ready to eat!!

The wind has cleared most of the apple tree at the museum! There are LOTS of apples on the ground around the trees. They are macs I believe- maybe Cortlands. I picked one up today and it did not have any bruising and it was very firm. If anyone wants them, just go get them! They would be great for pies, crisps, sauce or to slice and put in the freezer. They won't stay firm for long so please go help yourself. I would hate to see them wasted if someone can use them!

Coffee with a Conductor at the Museum on Tuesday, October 10th at 10 am! We will have coffee and homemade donuts! Our topic is the Civil War and the men who left Lisbon to go. If all goes well, we will have someone present his information on those soldiers who were sent to Andersonville. Some returned and some did not.

Nancy's Historical Hamlet of Lisbon Walk and Talk will take place on August 18th at 6 pm. We will not meet at the museum as in past years. We will meet at the Town Barns on Church St. (across from the library). We will walk down the right-hand side and end at the Lisbon Wesleyan Church. This will be our last walk and talk in the hamlet. We have a really neat idea for future Walk and Talks! It will be revealed on Friday evening so come join us!

We should have AC in the Freight room for Homecoming! The units have been ordered and installation is set to begin August 14th. Yay!

Last Friday evening proved once again why we need a gazebo at the museum. Steelin Country is to be commended for "sticking it out" and playing despite the rainy conditions. The people who attended even more so!

The Lisbon Depot Museum has a restricted account with the Town of Lisbon where we are saving for a gazebo for bands to play in, picnics, a shady reading spot, and general public use.

If you would like to help us out by donating, please contact Nancy LaFaver. All donations are greatly appreciated.

We sincerely appreciate the donations we have already received towards this goal!

Our thanks go out to the Town of Lisbon for their generosity in giving us funds to redo our entire deck and add seamless rain gutters, mini splits for the freight room, and security cameras.

With everyone working together, we have an amazing place for our community to gather and visit. Thank you all!

I just want to say that Mike Baldock and his crew are fabulous! The Flackville Church bell has been moved to its new home, the double bench has been moved to a shadier location, they keep our lawn moved and w**d whacked regularly and they are always pleasant and kind. In a world where people don’t seem to want to work or be kind, these guys are a refreshing change. Lisbon is lucky to have them! Thank you!!!
Lissssy’s body is growing and we even have volunteer Petunias coming out of the cracks and blossoming!
You never know what you might find at the museum. Stop and see us frequently.

Lissssy will meet you at the museum tonight!

07/07/2023

We hope to see you tonight! 6-8 pm. We are expecting Lisssssy to be there.
