It’s time to spring clean your financial documents!! Ask yourself the following:
Do I have a will? If not, make one. It makes things much easier for your loved ones after you pass. So many people think they don’t need one because they don’t have much, or their spouse just gets it all. Having a will provides guidance and helps make your last wishes known.
Do you have Durable Power of Attorney? If you become incapacitated this allows someone to handle your financial affairs.
What about health care power of attorney?? This allows you to control what type of treatment you receive in the event you have no chance of surviving without extreme medical care. There’s no guilt for family members because these are your wishes.
Get these documents drawn up today and I can notarize them for you.

Happy New Year! I’d like to thank the hundreds of people that used my mobile notary services last year. The number one issue that I encountered was when people didn’t have identification after being admitted to the hospital or nursing home. Well meaning family members take the identification home and leave it there. Then I get called to notarize important documents such as a will or power of attorney. When I ask about identification, either it’s elsewhere, or expired. (Luckily I ask this before I arrive.) Then the family has to figure out how to get the license or how to get a current identification in a hurry!! Remember to apply for a state identification card when your loved one stops driving!! You can apply to get a license using the current photo remotely by contacting Penn Dot and getting a letter from a doctor explaining why the person can’t appear at a Penn Dot license center. If your loved one is admitted to the hospital YOU should hold onto the license in case it’s needed. It will save you stress and aggravation at a difficult time. I wish everyone a healthy, happy and prosperous new year. Please share this post to spread the word about the importance of current identification!

This is so true. I notarized today for a 91-year-old woman, who, despite having many physical infirmities, wakes up each day, feeling blessed and happy to be alive. She said that she has had a wonderful life and has had many wonderful experiences for which she is grateful every day.

Happy everyone! Try and approach every day with a positive attitude, it'll make all the difference ✨

This is a reminder to make sure that your identification is current. I know I’ve mentioned this several times, but I often travel to notarize for senior citizens and many of them, once they stop driving, think that they do not need identification. The best course of action is that if an elderly person stops driving and gives up their drivers license, they should automatically apply for a state identification card. It makes things much less stressful down the road. Have you compiled a will? What about a power of attorney? If not, get those documents done, and I can notarize them for you. I am mobile and travel to homes, hospitals, nursing homes, and even soccer fields on one occasion!

Happy Earth Day!

03/26/2023

Have you checked your elderly loved one’s identification lately? I’ve had several situations lately where I couldn’t notarize power of attorney or wills because the person, usually in a nursing home, didn’t have current, or in some cases any type identification. So many people think that because they don’t drive, they don’t need identification. Identification cards can be renewed online at Penn Dot’s website. You can print a temporary card until the new card comes in the mail. Do it today! Don’t wait until it’s an emergency.

Interesting.

DID YOU KNOW: Notaries accompanied Columbus on all his voyages just as they accompanied nearly all early Spanish explorers.

King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella wanted to ensure that all discovered treasures were accounted for. On October 12, 1492, when Columbus first beheld the New World, a Notary named Rodrigo de Escobedo was on hand to document the landing on San Salvador Island in the Bahamas.

🗣 IMPORTANT information to get your affairs in order‼️

💰Make sure all bank accounts have direct beneficiaries. The beneficiary need only go to the bank with your death certificate and an ID.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Living Will: Allows one to put in writing exactly what you want done in the event you cannot speak for yourself when it comes to healthcare decisions as well as other final decisions.

👩🏽‍⚖️Durable Power of Attorney: Allows one to designate a person to make legal decisions if you are no longer competent to do so.

🏥Power of Attorney for Healthcare: This document allows one to designate someone to make healthcare decisions for them.

🛍Last Will and Testament: Designates to whom personal belongings will go to.

🪦Funeral Planning Declaration: Allows one to say exactly one’s wishes as far as disposition of the body and the services.

If the above documents are done, you can AVOID probate.

If all the above is not done, you have to open an estate account at the bank. All money that doesn’t have direct beneficiaries goes into this account. You have to have an attorney to open the estate account. The attorney also has to publicize your passing in the newspaper or post publication at the county courthouse, to allow anyone to make a claim on your property. - It’s a complete PAIN.

📚 💳Make a list of all banks and account numbers, all investment institutions with account numbers, lists of credit cards, utility accounts, etc. Leave clear instructions as to how and when these things are paid.

Make sure heirs know where life insurance policies are located. 📂

📝Make 100% sure SOMEONE knows your Apple ID, bank ID account logins and passwords!

🚗 Make sure you have titles for all vehicles, campers, etc!

Set up a TRUST for intended beneficiaries, especially those that are too young, and appoint a trustee of said trust.

MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!! - Talk with those closest to you and make all your wishes KNOWN. Talk to those whom you’ve designated, as well as those close to you whom you did not designate. - Do this to explain why your decisions were made and to avoid any lingering questions or hurt feelings.

⚡️Hope this helps! ⚡️Hope this lights a spark to encourage all your friends and family to take care of these things to make it easier for those we all leave behind!

My hope is that the above list at least helps you start an important conversation with your loved ones...

(REPOST-I DID) and it’s a very necessary conversation
