Warwick Street is closed from West Lincoln Ave to Kleine Ln due to utility work.

Paving and repairs on Main Street are complete. The street will remain closed to allow the blacktop to cure. It will reopen to traffic first thing Friday morning.

Crews will be on Main Street around 7:00 tomorrow morning, 7/18. They will begin repair of the damage, caused by the water main break, that occurred over the weekend.

As of 8:00 am, today, testing has confirmed the water in the area of the boil water advisory is safe and the boil water advisory has been lifted.

EAST MAIN STREET WATER MAIN

During the evening of July 12, 2024, the water main in the first block of East Main Street experienced a catastrophic break. The main has been repaired and restoration work is underway. Damage to the roadway was significant and will require coordination with PennDOT. As such, East Main Street will be closed from Broad Street (PA 501) to Cedar Street until all repairs are completed.

RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES OF EAST MAIN STREET: Please be advised that you are under a Boil Water Advisory until water samples confirm the water is safe to drink. Please refer to the Boil Water Advisory at www.lititzborough.org. For all other Borough water customers, you are not impacted by this notice.

As of this morning, the work on the Lincoln Avenue culvert has been completed. The road is now open to traffic. Work will now switch to the culvert on North Cedar Street; the street will be closed on or around April 22 and will be closed for an extended period of time.

Don't be confused by the garbage haulers collecting along the normal Friday route today. If you had your trash out; they decided to grab what they can to try to get ahead of the forecasted snow. If you did not have your trash out, yet; they will be running the route again tomorrow, weather permitting.

Due to the inclement weather, our garbage hauler has suspended all services for Tuesday, February 13th. All customers will be collected on a one-day delay this week.

The Lititz Historic Area Advisory Committee is looking for the public's input regarding the two pretzel signs, downtown, that are set to be replaced. The Committee is asking for input regarding color choices, etc. A meeting will be conducted on Monday, September 11, beginning at 6 p.m. Interested parties should meet in front of the Borough Office building at 5:50 p.m. to walk to the sites.

The final day to put leaves out for curbside collection is Sunday, December 11. The Public Works Department will not follow the regular schedule the following week so please make sure to have everything out before they start work at 7:00 a.m. Monday morning.

Trick or Treat is no longer set by any municipal group. It is now like any other holiday....Trick or Treat is on Halloween, rain or shine.

An electric outage and road closure has been scheduled in order to remove a large tree on the 2nd block of East Second Ave. Work is to be completed on Wednesday, October 19 with a rain date of the 20th. East Second Avenue will be closed from South Cedar Street to Linden Street. Homes effected by the power outage have been notified by letter. Work is expected to begin at 8:30 am and electricity will be restored by 2:00 pm.

The Borough was notified late yesterday afternoon that the State will be conducting a mosquito spraying event. The notification is as follows:

Lititz Borough & Warwick Township, Pa. (September 20, 2022) – Residential and recreational areas in and around S. Spruce Street, W. 3rd Avenue, S. Walnut Street, W. End Avenue, S. Spruce Street, E. 2nd Avenue, Raspberry Lane, E. 3rd Avenue, Linden Street, Cherry Street, S. Locust Street, E. 6th Street, Kissel Hill Road, Swarthmore Drive, Oxford Drive, Conway Drive, Owl Hill Road, Landis Valley Road, Highlands Drive, and Crosswinds Drive will be sprayed for adult mosquitoes beginning around sunset (~8:00 PM) on September 20th. Please keep in mind that the roads listed are for reference and other roads and areas in close proximity may be sprayed as well. We ask that residents remain inside while the spray is being conducted, though outside activities may resume 30 minutes after the spray.

High populations of adult mosquitoes that vector West Nile Virus to humans have been detected in these areas. Weather conditions and other unexpected events could delay or cancel the spray operation. If these operations are cancelled, it will be rescheduled for September 21st.

The Lancaster County Facilities Management Mosquito-Borne Disease Program will be conducting this truck-mounted ultra-low volume (ULV) mosquito control operation. The Lancaster and Lebanon County Mosquito and Tick Borne Disease Control Specialist and Mosquito Control Technician will be on site for the application. Lancaster County’s business license is BU 9444, and the product used will be Aquaduet applied at a rate of 1.0 fluid oz/ac. This product is designed to provide quick knockdown and effective control of adult mosquitoes. The control event is performed by way of an Ultra-Low Volume Truck Mounted Spray. Our sprayer puts out the product in microscopic droplets (approximately a shot glass of product is applied over the distance of a football field). Because the droplets are so small, they degrade quickly and are only “potent” for roughly 20 minutes before they begin to degrade. Therefore, it is unable to adhere to vegetation/leech into groundwater, etc. This protects non-target species such as pollinators and aquatic life. Additionally, we specifically deploy this product after dusk when the target mosquito species is most active and pollinators are not. We understand the role pollinators play and want to ensure that we do them no harm while also protecting public health.

Warwick Township and Lititz Borough residents should protect themselves from mosquito bites by wearing or implementing some form of repellent, including wearing long sleeves and pants when outside. Additionally, residents and homeowners should be vigilant of standing water, including artificial containers holding water such as buckets, clogged gutters or tarps. Something as small as a soda bottle cap filled with water can breed mosquitoes.

PennDOT and Norfolk Southern will close N Broad St (501) from September 12-16 to repair the railroad tracks. The detour map is below.

A PennDOT contractor will be performing pavement restoration work on East Main Street (PA 772) between Water and Locust Streets starting at 7 AM on August 8, weather depending. Work is expected to take at least one day and could continue into Tuesday. Starting at 7 AM there will be no parking between Water and Locust Street for the duration of the work.
This work is a temporary fix to mitigate issues prior to the winter. Complete resurfacing of E. Main Street and Water Street will be done in the spring of 2023.

Garbage collection is delayed by a day this week due to the holiday. Also, yard waste pick up is next week.
