Edit: making post at 6pm on Wednesday May 22. Omg! Darby just filled me in! First, many thanks for the support! ❤️ Second, we are not closing the business. I should have been more specific. When I say I’m “going to close a greenhouse” I mean I’m going to empty it for the season. I apologize profusely for any and all confusion. We are and will remain open daily, 9-5pm. I have 20 growhouses (customers are not allowed in them and they are hidden down a hill. I want to get all remaining plants out and on display, the part of the garden center you see when visiting. With the 20 houses closed, we don’t have to water and it will save 8 hours of someone watering. With that freed up then I can not worry about my plants. I should have been more specific. We still need to sell the plants.
Last year when we found out Brian’s cancer had returned, I made a promise to walk my best friend to heaven’s gate. If you have seen me at the garden center and wondering why I’m frantically hauling plants out of the greenhouse. I’m literally fighting against time. Brian’s farewell is coming soon. I want, I need, to be with him. However, I have to get my greenhouses emptied. I won’t be on Facebook today or tomorrow. Our eldest son is graduating from Frostburg. Our middle son graduated from FCC last week. This will be our last family event. I want to give it all my attention. This will also be a challenging trip due to Brian’s condition. I will need all my energy. Please call the farm if you have a dire question. I won’t be checking FB regularly. I will be back Thursday evening. This weekend I need to hustle to get my greenhouses emptied. That means we need to move a lot of plants. If you know of anyone that needs flowers please send them our way. I have to take care of my obligations at the farm, plants have always come first, before I can solely concentrate on my husband. I’m logging off now. This trip will take everything I got. Thank you for understanding my personal journey as I walk my best friend to peace from cancer.
Edit: thank you for the messages to offer help with moving plants. ❤️ You’ll are AMAZING! I’m okay on labor to move them out. What I really need is to sell them. I just didn’t want to say that because it sounds awful/horrible/greedy. Just disgusting. The reason is not money. It’s just that due to our watering system. We can only have two people water at a time or the pumps burn up. Melanie has to come in at 2am to water the display greenhouses. Then a girl waters the growhouses and other waters the outside displays areas. I need to empty the growhouses so we can solely concentrate on the display areas. If I’m not there then Darby would be alone. We always want two sisters at the farm at the same time. It’s confusing but it works if there are 3 sisters there at a time. Its not fair to let the work load fall on only 2.

Awesome
It is going to be a beautiful night!
Another lovely event - always done with such beauty and style at the Cozy Castle Events.
Looking for something to do this weekend?
Made some progress this week on the little server with pullout tray. The top and tray have been stripped, sanded and bleached. Then stained with Miss Lillian's NO WAX Chock Paint grey wood stain and glazed with Antique white. Now it is just a matter of deciding on the base color to go with the top.
Let me know your opinion.
The ever important before photos! I normally am at least two steps in before I think yo take them. Anyone else?🤣
A few of my favorites projects from 2021. Looking forward to sharing what’s been coming down the pike.
Feel free to commment about your latest projects!!
Now that the move is complete, it’s time to get back to the work that brings me so much pleasure. This is one of the very last pieces to get painted in my work space at our store location in Thurmont. It’s our first piece to get listed in 2022 on display in my much smaller but beautiful work space down here in South Carolina. 😊 This piece is available for purchase.
I love this style buffet because it packs in a ton of storage in a small space. It measures 48” L x 20” D x 35” T. Local delivery to the Little River, SC area is available. PM for all the details.
This is a story I just had to tell. https://view.flodesk.com/emails/61d7aa0401961fb909a6f733
My view this morning brings me back to the very beginning. I sat here many times doing traffic studies and feasibility reports. The work in planning out a business. But numbers only tell you part of the picture. The real story is the excitement of our first setup, first customer, first sale! All of the changes this business has gone through, the ideas to bring people together through events so we were more that just a retail business. We became a part of the community. Along the way we met amazing people and made good friends. It was a business decision that pulled my whole family together to create great things through lots of long hours and lots more hard work!!
We will soon turn this old building, which has been so great to us, over to new owners. I hope they do great things here and enjoy being here on Main Street as much as we did. I say on this lightly snowing, cold morning, I will be happy to head back south but I will always look back on this story with fondness!
Here’s to great things happening in 2022!!
Wishing you and all those you hold dear a very Merry Christmas Hope you have a blessed day surrounded by love and true peace.
Happy Tuesday!
Moving at the holidays can be a bit of a challenge with trying to keep up the traditions. This is not a chore because I just love reaching out to people, some we see often; others this is our only communication. But I still like making the connection. Who else likes sending out Christmas or holiday cards?
If you or someone you know is looking to make a move, contact Monumental Moving Company. Casey worked with us as our dates changed and as the move details changed. He and his crew were efficient, polite and just all around great to work with throughout the move.
