Don’t worry about soreness. Pay attention to how the work feels DURING class. If you feel like you aren’t getting stronger, do a check in with yourself and ask:
🤔 Have I been lifting the same weight during squats, rows, same level of incline on the bench during pushups for more than 6-8 weeks without attempting to do a single rep with the next set up?
🤔 Am I feeling the work (the resistance - it should feel “thick” if that makes sense) by the 3rd or 4th repetition of each round or set?
🤔 Am I focusing hard on the mind muscle connection by 1) slowing down the movement, 2) listening to form and technique cues and applying them and 3) minimizing distraction
your strength progress is determined these factors - not because you aren’t sore.
My expert advice : chase progressive overload (make it harder over time in a mindful way) vs. chasing fatigue. Chasing fatigue is going to fail you every time.

In lieu of the slush freezing over tonight and the potential for freezing rain tomorrow (Thursday), we are going to run a limited schedule for Thursday:
9:15 JB lower body
9:30 Rise lower body
5:30 PM Rise lower body
6:00 PM JB
5:30 and 6:00 classes ✨may✨ be moved to earlier start times, but as always we will make sure to update you at least 2 hours prior to the start of your class with any changes. Please make sure to check your e-mail if you are registered for any class in question, and/or message us here! We’re on alert 🚨.

Here’s the plan for WEDNESDAY
❌ all regularly scheduled classes have been canceled except for the 5:30 PM Clocked - core session, but there’s a catch!
✅ We are moving the start time from 5:30 PM to 4 PM so we have more daylight to play with. We will only keep the class on the schedule if conditions continue to improve.
We drove out to the facility today and side roads are still very questionable (pictures attached). Depending on where you live and whether or not conditions improve tomorrow, you may need to cancel your reservation for tomorrow’s 4 pm class to do what’s best for you. Late cancel/no show policy will NOT be in effect for tomorrow’s class.

Almost 2 weeks in and crushing it, little jolly train. 🚂 . I’ve loved having conversations with y’all after classes to check in on your muscles and overall state of mind in the new space. I can remember writing today’s lower body workout in the office back in spring of 2023 while burke was teaching lab classes just a few feet away 🤯

Now that we’ve been open for a week, the questions have been flowing in and they are GOOD. Programming, scheduling, and helping you decide which memberships to get have been at the top of the list of inquiries and it’s been fun helping you plan your weekly schedules, which is exactly why we built our weekly training the way we did!
