CALS McMath Library

🚨Exciting News!🚨

Beggining late next week, McMath library will enter the next phase of our building upgrades! The process will include replacing the carpet, installing a new desk,
and rearranging patron computers among other things. While this will result in temporary limitations to some of our services, we intend to remain open as much as possible!

LITTLE ROCK – The City of Little Rock will open a cooling center at East Little Rock Community Center on Sunday for residents seeking relief from the oppressive heat. The Center’s hours will be from noon to 6 p.m.


The City’s community centers will remain open as regularly scheduled today and Saturday. Residents may take a break from the heat at a neighborhood community center until 6 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Little Rock community centers are typically closed on Sunday, but the East Little Rock Community Center will be available Sunday because of the likely extreme heat.

East Little Rock Community Center is located at 2500 E. Sixth St.

The following locations are open today and Saturday:

Dunbar Community Center, 1001 W. 16th St.
Southwest Community Center, 6401 Baseline Road
Stephens Community Center, 3720 W. 18th St.
West Central Community Center, 8616 Colonel Glenn Road

The City of Little Rock cooling centers are open to any residents who need a safe, comfortable space out of the weather.

The amazing artist Katherine Strause led a workshop on portraits yesterday. Leave a comment with your a picture of your masterpiece!

We still have eclipse glasses available for library card holders and anyone who signs up!

On the big day, CALS locations will close at 1:30PM and reopen at 2:30PM so that staff can experience the eclipse.
