When I was in labor with my first daughter, I got to a point where I was extremely exhausted, tired, and scared of the final pushing stage. That’s when my doula gently touched my shoulder and told me, “I know this is hard. But we can do hard things. You can do this.” And that was the encouragement I needed to get through birth and meet my daughter. That saying has stuck with me, and I say it to myself on those long, hard, lonely parenting days. This little simple saying really helps me get through hard things.
Motherhood is challenging. Giving care to children 24/7 is exhausting work, and it can feel like you are losing yourself in what you do for others. It can feel like the world around you has forgotten who you are, and moved on without you. It can feel like it’s just way too hard to keep up with the things you used to do before becoming a mother. And, on top of that, it can feel like the world does not understand or care how hard you’re trying, or how difficult your struggles are. Sometimes the world can be downright mean and cold towards mothers, judging you for where you fall short of being the ideal mother. And that’s on top of how much you already feel the internal pressure to be all and do all for your family.
If you are a mother and you resonate with this, please know that you are not alone, my friend. You matter. You are enough. You have immeasurable value in this world, even if you don’t feel it and the world doesn’t reflect that back to you.
Dear one, you are a light in this world. You matter. And your children are receiving immense love from your dedication and hard work. Keep going.
If you need to connect to someone for support and encouragement, I am here for you, beauty.
Mama, you matter. I see you. You are loved.
SunBloom Yoga & Wellness Studio is here to help mamas bloom.
Getting back to the things that I love! I made a spring, rose candle.
Making small 1% changes in your daily life can add up to greater wellbeing over time. You don’t have to change it all on a dime. What is one small selfcare thing that you can do for yourself today?
Update! I have been enjoying my maternity leave with my new daughter, my husband, and my oldest daughter for about a month now. Wow, time sure flies! I am so in love with my girls!
I am looking forward to making some changes and adding some new & exciting things to my yoga & wellness business. Sometime soon, I’ll be sharing more updates on these things! Stay tuned!
Love , Hanna & the RodSquad4
Hey friends! I‘ll soon be on Maternity Leave until April. Baby could come any time now, so I’ll be focusing on resting and preparing for her arrival. I may pop in here from time to time when I have a chance to make a post. Sending my love!
We don’t always need to be thinking about and processing the bad stuff that happened in order to heal from trauma. In fact, it can be healthy to compartmentalize the trauma through containment and distraction so that you can work on rebuilding yourself through healthy habits and self-care. Although this is not an exhaustive list, these are things to focus your mind on while you heal from trauma. These things will help build a healthy brain and body, and improve overall mental health through reconnection to self and others. What is your go-to focus while you’re healing?
Hey Mamas. You are not alone.
💜I see you. I’m with you. I love you.💜
Hi, I’m Hanna. And I have big plans for the future of my business. 💜
I am moving towards integrating a private counseling practice ➕ holistic healing modalities (such as yoga, EMDR, holistic living, and more) to help women, mothers, parents, and children heal from trauma, depression, and anxiety. My goals include attending the PSI institute to become Maternal Mental Health certified so that I can help women bloom in the midst of the transition to motherhood. And, some day I also hope to become EMDR certified as well.
I want to support Moms! There are so many things that make new motherhood difficult in our current world, and I hope to shed light on these challenges and show the whole world how valuable, important, loved, and needed mothers are.
Im a new mom with big dreams. And I’m not done yet. I’m just getting started. 💜
If you’re a new mama and you feel isolated, are struggling to stay afloat each day, please know that you’re not alone.
Mamas, I see you. I am with you. And I love you. 💜
Imagine having a broken leg in a cast, and someone accidentally bumps your leg. OUCH!!! Even if they didn’t mean to, this can cause pain because your leg is still healing and extremely sensitive to pain! It’s the same way with emotional trauma. Your brain and your nervous system are still in the process of healing from this wound, and trauma can be activated (or triggered) by experiences that may seem insignificant to a non-traumatized person. Please be kind with yourself and others. We never know what someone has gone through. 💜
Y’all!!!! I did it 😍 It’s been a 9 year journey to get this far. Lots of ups and downs, but I am so excited to finally say I am officially Hanna Rodriguez, LPC 🤩🤩🤩
Wouldn’t it be awesome to be paid for the work we do as parents? And to have mandatory paid parental and family leave?
Is it time to start paying stay-at-home parents? Stay-at-home parents are working as chef, cleaner, and chauffeur for the next generation of US workers. Some argue they deserve a paycheck.
Trigger Warning: Abuse Recovery & Trauma - please skip this post if it feels like too much right now.
This one goes out to all my friends who've survived trauma and abuse. I see you. You are the light in this world. Keep moving forward, my friend.
When healing from the trauma in abusive relationships, people often get caught in what I call the "Gray Zone." This is the space where you may find yourself perseverating on what happened to you, or playing it over in your mind again and again. It can be so difficult to "unhook" from the flashbacks and the intrusive memories. This is because your brain is having difficulty making sense of these horrible memories and encoding them into your memory bank. It's not your fault, this is very common.
One of the emotional coping mechanisms that survivors may use to gain a sense of control, is to blame themselves and feel intense shame for what has happened. This mechanism has a purpose, which is to block out feelings of helplessness and powerlessness, which are the epitome of trauma. Again, it's not you're fault if you are going through this. It's simply what brains do!
In this post, I share a meditation exercise based on self-forgiveness that can help you unhook from the shame and self-blame that you may feel as a survivor. Finding practices like this can help you get through the "Gray Zone" and help you grieve your losses so that you can integrate the parts of you that have felt broken and wounded. You will find your new normal soon, my friend. I hope this post helps you.
Ready for a Movement Challenge?
This January, get in the flow of a great movement routine! One of the ways I like to simplify my life is by creating weekly routines. This way, I will know exactly what type of movement to do on each day of the week, and it removes the mental load of thinking, planning, and decision making because the plan is already in place.
Additionally, within the daily routine, you can modify the intensity, duration, and style of your workout to suit your mood, energy, and time limitations. For example, if on Thursday, you’re feeling low and depressed, getting outside and getting your heart pumping can be helpful. You can intensify your gentle yoga flow by taking a brisk walk or jog before practicing gentle yoga. This can help to cultivate mind-body balance.
This Challenge can be used as is or you can modify the practice to suit your own needs better.

Thanks to everyone who joined the Winter Yoga Class series! I truly enjoyed spending time with you all. 💜
Hey friends! This is an opinion post and it does not necessarily reflect every person’s perspective or situation. I am interested in learning what you think, too! Please feel free to share your thoughts and your stories below!
Yesterday, I took and passed my NCE! That’s the National Counseling Exam which allows me to get my LPC License in the state of CO!
I’m super stoked and grateful to have the opportunity to continue working in the Mental Health field in the future. And also, I’m extremely exhausted from all the mental effort it took to get through this, especially being almost 8 months pregnant!!! Woo wee! I’ll be resting up for the next few days.
I can’t wait to see what direction life takes from here 😄
What are you hoping to experience in this New Year? Share in comments below! ⬇️
Hey Mamas!
Do you want to set some health goals for New Years, but feel a little intimidated or frustrated with lack of success from previous years?
Let’s talk this out! Sometimes, we set high expectations of ourselves, and then we struggle to meet those expectations. This leads even the most dedicated people to burnout and failure. It’s not your fault. This does not mean that you were lazy or that there’s anything wrong with you. It simply means that we need to give ourselves grace, and make sure to set more reasonable goals for the future.
When you take a look at the evidence around lifestyle change research, you will see that people will actually improve their chances of success when they set SMALL, MEASURABLE, ACTIONABLE, REALISTIC, and TIME BOUND goals.
Additionally, let’s take a look at the health data that actually moves the needle, instead of jumping into the next fad diet or extreme exercise program. Viewing the scientific research can help you decide what goals are meaningful, impactful, and most importantly, sustainable for your life.
In this guide, you’ll find my summary of healthy lifestyle tips that are based in the recent health literature.

Are you stressing this holiday season? It’s okay, lots of us are stressed. Stress is simply a part of the holidays for some of us!
Here is a quick 5 minute yoga flow that is supercharged by EMDR Bilateral Stimulation, to help quickly regulate your nervous system. Make sure to breathe, deep, slow, full breath cycles. Breathing all the way down into your belly 3 times in each pose as you use the bilateral stimulation techniques to calm your entire body. You got this! 🧘🏻♀️

WHAT IS HOLISTIC LIFE COACHING?
Holistic Life Coaching is a profession which is premised on the idea that wellness can only be established when you are fully integrating all aspects of your life. You will develop a supportive, nurturing relationship with your coach that pours miracle grow on your mind, body, and spirit wellness! This means that you are seen as a whole person, and relationships between the different areas of yourself are integral to creating a sustainable healthy lifestyle. An Holistic Life Coach will ask you how your mental health, sleep, stress, eating, work, and family life are playing a role in your current state of health. Your coach will help you identify self care skills, rituals, eating habits, and exercise plans that will promote your healing and personal growth. Your coach will help you identify negative thoughts that interfere with your confidence and motivation to make desired changes in your life. Life coaching helps you make a plan to create sustainable lifestyle habits that promote optimal well-being. A Holistic Life Coach does not attempt to diagnose or treat medical conditions, instead, you will be referred to your healthcare provider for these purposes.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEALTH COACHING AND LIFE COACHING?
Truly, there is overlap in these two professions that is not always clearly defined. However, the main difference is that Life Coaching delves more deeply into your personal development, healing, stress reduction, and how you make meaning in your life. We will discuss self-care, exercise, healthy eating so that you can feel your best as you strive towards healing and growth in your life. The main difference from Health Coaching is that a health coach will primarily focus and specialize in issues related to weight loss, physical fitness, nutrition, physical health, and exercise. Whereas, a Life Coach will discuss these topics in a minor way as a portion of the program to support your overall personal growth, but a Life Coach does not specialize in physical health.
WHAT IS THE GOAL OF HOLISTIC LIFE COACHING AND HOW DOES IT DIFFER FROM OTHER PROGRAMS?
There are many coaching programs and diets out there. A holistic life coach helps you create a personalized plan to make the desired changes and maintain motivation and improved confidence in yourself as you journey forward. A Holistic Life Coach does not tell you which diet to follow nor will they prescribe a diet to treat a medical problem. You will need to see a doctor and or dietitian for such purposes. And, a Holistic Life Coach will encourage you to see your doctor regularly as a part of your self care regime.
HOW IS A HOLISTIC LIFE COACH DIFFERENT THAN A PSYCHOTHERAPIST?
There are some overlapping areas between life coaching and therapy because they are both in the business of promoting individuals’ wellness. However, the main difference is that life coaches will focus on helping you develop self care regime that fosters your best physical, mental, and spiritual health. Whereas a therapist will help you identify mental health diagnoses through assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to help you recover from that diagnosis. It is important to understand that a life coach is not qualified to assess, diagnose, and treat mental illness. If it becomes evident to a Holistic Life Coach that you may be suffering from a mental health condition, you will be referred to your doctor and your psychotherapist to receive the necessary treatment before continuing with life coaching.
WHY WOULD YOU WANT HOLISTIC LIFE COACHING?
If you are feeling stuck, stressed, burnt out, or alone in your journey to make your life better, I am here to gently guide you, encourage you, and help you meet your goals. I can help you clarify your goals and define what life meaning means for you! I can help you find the motivation to stick to the action plan you create for yourself. After 6 Life coaching sessions, you will walk away with the skills, motivation, confidence, and a sustainable, solid plan for how you will take care of yourself. I will always be here to continue to support you as long as you need it. In addition, with your permission, your Life coach can work with your healthcare providers and psychotherapist in an integrative team approach to advocate for your best care.
WHAT IS PRIVATE YOGA COACHING?
Yoga coaching includes private yoga lessons that help you to reach specific goals in yoga. Whether you want to achieve a certain pose, increase core strength, learn to deepen your intuition, gain clarity of mind in an area of life, or learn how to use yoga to cope with stress, I am here to help you identify your goals, assess your needs, and develop a yoga program to help you progress in your practice. I specialize in promoting mental health through gentle, restorative yoga.
WHAT IS BODY POSITIVE COACHING?
Body positive coaching is an approach that encourages unconditional self-acceptance of your body and does not focus on weight loss. Body positive coaching acknowledges the harm caused by diet culture to many individuals’ health, including causing mental distress and frustration with yo-yo dieting, reduced confidence when someone inevitably gains weight after dieting, and the tendency to push individuals towards disordered eating and self-hatred. Instead of focusing on trying to change your body through restrictive diets and punishing exercise, a body positive coach will encourage you to develop a compassionate relationship with your body, find your inner body wisdom with food, and find joy and freedom again in your movement and eating. It’s all about self-kindness and caring for your body with a sense of love and appreciation for your life. Imagine being able to enjoy food without worrying about counting calories or macros. Imagine moving your body in a way that feels good and enjoying your time at the studio, gym, or wherever you go to exercise.
WHAT ARE HANNA’S QUALIFICATIONS OF A LIFE COACH AND YOGA TEACHER?
Hanna graduated with a Master’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in Counseling in 2017, and has spent 6+ years working as a mental health counselor, but was not pleased with having to assess, diagnose, and treat mental illness. Instead, Hanna wants to focus on people’s strengths and empower them to meet their goals in life. Additionally, she received her ACE Health Coach certification in 2017, but this field was also not quite the right fit for her either! So she continued on and became a certified yoga teacher in 2021. Over time, Hanna realized that she would like to integrate the knowledge she has gained from all of these different fields and courses of study in order to empower people’s healing and personal development as they search for meaning and purpose in their lives. She decided to utilize her skills to become a Life Coach.
