Hello Everyone - it has been an exciting couple years, and if you haven't guessed already, we have not been as active on Facebook as we should be.
To update everyone - our team has grown and we are stronger than ever. Kathy is still handing the financial side of things. Andria has been handling the support and sales side for a while now. And Wesley is in a strong position on the software development side - with a team of four developers. I get to travel now and start meeting you across the country -- and finally figure out Facebook!
We do have a release coming out soon that will be fairly boring. Much of it is internal in preparation for our mobile and web apps. The mobile app will start with collecting information on-scene about incidences, and grow from there. I still do not have an ETA, but they are working hard on it. Once this regular release comes out, we will also be working on some simple web applications - like apparatus checks.
Thank you everybody for your support and referrals. I think things are about to get more fun for all of us!
Have a safe and fun St Patrick's Day everyone! Thank you firefighters for all you do for our communitites!
We are thankful for all the firefighters who serve our communities so faithfully and sacrificially! We wish you a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you to all Veterans of the Armed Services for your service to our great country! We know that many of the firefighters who now serve our local communities are included in this group, and for you we are doubly grateful!
Today we remember the men and women we have lost in the line of duty, and we honor the families they left behind. We will also take today to remember Mark and his work as a firefighter and a businessman. We continue to send our prayers to Sarah and the rest of the Horwich family.
Good Morning! We have some awesome updates to share.
1. Danny has contacted ALL support requests that we have discovered through the support email and social media. If you are still experiencing unresolved issues, or we somehow missed your message, please go ahead and email us at [email protected]. If you would prefer to speak to one of us directly, please call! Most issues have been resolved completely, but we are still in progress with several. If you contacted us through the “sales” email, we have not gotten to those quite yet, please email “support” if you’re a current customer so we prioritize your needs back to the top! We are working diligently to close all open support requests as quickly as possible.
2. We will be releasing a new version of the software that will include the NFRIS Covid Special Study very soon. As we release this update, we can tell there were a few changes Mark was working on already that would be coded into this next version. If there are any departments who would be willing to take an early release and confirm all looks good before a mass deployment, that would be appreciated. If you are interested, please email [email protected] today.
3. We’ve had some wonderful conversations with some great people! There are a handful of suggestions that we are excited to explore and work through. Some of the items we will be looking at very closely include Computer Aided Dispatch, mobile app modules, a web app, and even a department communication forum.
4. Because of all of these wonderful suggestions and the outpouring of support and confidence you see in our future, we are working on a platform where you can share your suggestions and watch them come to fruition! This will be an opportunity for you to see exactly what updates we’re working on, what is coming next, and what your fellow stations have also suggested. Stay tuned for more!
We greatly appreciate your continued patience and kindness. Have a wonderful weekend!
- Your Fire Station Software team
Thank you, Sarah, for the introduction, and all of the discussions that we have had recently. You are truly special, and the company and community you and Mark have built is phenomenal.
I am honored to step into Mark's shoes, but I will not be doing that alone. Many of you have already heard from Kathy, RussAnn, and Kristin. They have been helping me diligently get through the emails and facebook posts to make sure we establish good communication, and that all of your issues and needs are addressed promptly.
Although I have been in software development for the past thirty years, my passion has been helping other small businesses gain the Clarity, Confidence, and Connections they need to thrive. Many of the entrepreneurs I have helped have asked me to invest with them, but an entrepreneur needs to be passionate about their business to thrive. My wisdom has always been to tell them that I am not passionate about what they are passionate about, but just about helping their business grow. Until...
Mark's story touched me on many levels - his service, his heroism, and his dedication and passion to building their business. In talking with Sarah, I knew that my passions aligned with theirs. Though our stories are different, there are so many intersections that make this the perfect fit. I am passionate about serving each and every one of you in the fire service. Thank you for your service and dedication to keeping us safe, and thank you for your patience with us during this transition.
I was a member of Inter-Canyon Fire and Rescue in Morrison, CO for about 5 years as an EMT-B and a FireFighter I. In addition to the medical and fire calls, I managed the department air systems. I resigned from the department when I was out of district too much to be a productive member of the team, but I miss the service very much. Someday I'll be back...
I will be introducing our entire team over time, but for now:
Please welcome Kathy Cometto, our Director of Finance. She is my lovely wife, partner, and CPA. She will be guiding us all through the billing transition, and has already enjoyed the conversations as she has reached out to you.
Please welcome Kristin Rapert, our Director of Communications and Marketing. She will be guiding us to hear from each of you to help us understand what is important for our future together, and to keep you informed as we move forward and tackle this together.
Please welcome RussAnn Jennings, our Office Manager. She will make sure we are prompt in our communications with you. Once we get the primary number moved from my cell phone to the office system, she will be the smiling voice welcoming you.
I am excited as we move forward. I am not much at making promises, instead we will just work hard to earn your trust and confidence. I know we have a great future together.
Danny
Good afternoon friends and clients!
I have an exciting announcement, one that has been in the works for quite some time! Today Fire Station Software is now under new management and ownership! Please help me welcome Danny Cometto and his team to the Fire Station Software “family!”
Since Mark’s LODD back in January, I have been diligently looking for the best way to move forward with Fire Station Software. While hiring a developer to fill Mark’s role seemed like the easiest way to rectify the problem, it just was not the right fit for the situation. I spoke with many interested buyers, but none of them seemed like the best “home” for Fire Station Software, nor did many share Mark’s passion for the fire service and giving back to his community. This is where Danny entered the picture!
Danny has 30 years of software development experience. He is an entrepreneur himself, owning several start-ups and running a non-profit. Now here is the best part – he was a volunteer firefighter for 5 years, so he has the knowledge of the fire service community on top of all this! This is especially what made Danny stand out as the perfect person to take over the work and tackle the vision that Mark created when he began Fire Station Software in 2010.
This whole process of losing Mark, who was my husband and business partner, has been an extremely stressful one for me personally and professionally (that is an understatement, really). The kindness, compassion, patience, and understanding you have shown has been extremely appreciated. Thank you. Mark and I used to say Fire Station has the best clients and you all proved us right! As I pass ownership of the company over to Danny, please extend that same patience and understanding to him and his staff as they learn the ins and outs of the software and how to best serve you.
Again, thank you all for 10 years of loyal business! Stay safe and God bless.
- Sarah Horwich
Just an update on the developer...It was anticipated that we would have a developer on staff the end of March-first of April, but that has been delayed. I assure you I am working as diligently as I can to move that along, however I do not have a specific time frame of when that will be completed. I will keep you posted here on Facebook of when that happens! Hopefully soon!!
Also, just a friendly reminder that our office is currently closed until we have a developer on staff. Please be mindful of this - sending repeated messages, emails or calling repeatedly does not make the process go any faster (I wish it did!) and gives us a larger backlog to work through once he is on staff.
Again, I thank you for all your patience. This is becoming quite drawn out, but some things are beyond my control, especially with the pandemic affecting things.
Thank you for your business and just as soon as I have another update, I will be sure to let everyone know.
Mark and I used to talk about how great our customers are and over the past 2 months you all have proven us right! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
The majority of you have been extremely understanding about the situation with Mark's LODD. You have been most gracious with waiting on me to get a solution or answer to whatever issue you are having. You have shown me the utmost respect as a LODD widow and that makes me feel proud to be part of the fire community. You have shown kindness and empathy to our daughter and my stepchildren, for which I am beyond grateful. Mark would be extremely pleased with your kindness as well. Thank you.
Having said all that, I wanted to announce that IF THINGS PROGRESS AS PLANNED there will be a developer on staff last week of March/first week of April who can address the things I have not been able to. I do have a list for him to work through, so even once he is on boarded, he will need a bit of time to work through to get to each one. I appreciate your continued support and understanding. I also appreciate your continued prayers that the timeline remains the same (hoping this coronavirus/economic stuff does not derail or delay the plans with the developer) and I appreciate your continued prayers for myself and my family.
Thank you again. Fire Station Software really does have the BEST customers!!!!! - Sarah

As most of our clients are aware, Mark was killed in a LODD accident on January 11, 2020. Please understand I not only lost my business partner/coworker, but I lost my husband and our infant daughter lost her father. Right now we are in a bit of transition adjusting to his absence and I'd like to ask for your patience and understanding during this time. Currently we have no plans to go out of business and I am looking for a developer to take on Mark's role. I realize some of you may have issues or concerns with the software and those problems will not go ignored, however I do appreciate your understanding and grace while I look to hire a replacement. Thank you, Sarah Horwich
