I am Dr. Leanna Racine, PT, DPT, founder and lead physical therapist at Core Connections Pelvic Health. As a mom myself, I am particularly inspired by helping pregnant and postpartum people navigate a changing body and feel

✨A few things we’re helping folks with this week✨
🩵Curious if pelvic PT can help you too? Send us a message or call/text 720-823-3030

06/18/2024

☀️Nope! In the state of Colorado, you can start pelvic health PT (& any other physical therapy) at any time without a referral 🙌🏽

🌟Wonder if pelvic therapy is right for you? Send us a message, we’re happy to chat🤗
Note that some insurance carriers may require a referral to start therapy for reimbursement purposes

🏃🏽‍♀️It’s a misconception that pelvic therapy is only for urinary leakage, truly it can help athletic performance too! 🏋🏻‍♀️ Often nagging hip, back, or groin pain that’s unresponsive to other treatments is associated with pelvic floor issues. It’s not always a quick fix, but often addressing the pelvic floor is the missing piece in athletics & performance!
We love cheering on this strong, dedicated endurance athlete as she gets back on the trails and collects miles again! 🥳

🌟Questions on what it’s like to work together? We’d love to hear from you 🥳

We love supporting you through the season of motherhood 🫶🏼 We’re also sending love and big hugs to those who long to be mothers, have lost children or their own mother, and those who have strained relationships ❤️‍🩹

✍🏼We’ve been busy outside of the clinic these last few weeks! Today Dr. Leanna completed the final day & lab for an advanced course in treating prolapse (heaviness in the pelvis) and incontinence (leakage). Taught by Taryn Hallam, a renowned Australian physio, Dr. Leanna is now able to fit pessaries, which is what they are holding in the pic! More on pessaries and our advanced offerings for helping manage prolapse are coming soon, so stay tuned!

Questions about prolapse or how we can support you? We’d be happy to chat, send us a message or give us a call 720-823-3030 🤗

✨ Celebrating the incredible support & guidance doulas provide through the life-changing experience of having a baby during this week (& every week!)✨

🌟”A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to their client before, during, and after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible” (DONA)

🌟 Research shows over and over that doulas positively impact birth outcomes and the wellbeing of birthing people and their families

🌟Doulas aren’t just for unmedicated home births. Everyone expecting can benefit from having a doula. They provide support and are an asset in all settings, including during hospital births and for c-sections/belly births.

🌟At Core Connections, part of our role in helping people prepare for birth is making sure they have a great team! Doulas can be integral for birthing, and we are fortunate to know some incredible local doulas that we recommend regularly 🩵

🌟Reach out today if you’d like to learn more or need a doula recommendation🤗

🌟We know starting pelvic therapy can feel like a big unknown. Here’s what to expect at your first session at Core Connections 🤗

🌱First, Dr. Leanna will greet you and welcome you to the clinic

☘️You & Dr. Leanna will discuss your concerns in-depth and go over relevant health history. The goal is to understand what’s contributing to your current issues and get to know you and your goals - what’s important in your life and what you’d like to achieve in PT! 🌟 She will also provide thorough education on the anatomy and function pelvic floor muscles and surrounding areas ✨

🌿Next is a comprehensive physical exam, looking at things like how you do daily movements, your strength, mobility, coordination and breathing. With your consent, you may have an external or internal assessment of the pelvic floor muscles and surrounding areas. The goal is to figure out the ‘why’ of what’s driving your symptoms💡

🌻Then, Dr. Leanna will explain all the findings, and together you’ll come up with a clear game plan to achieve lasting results!

❔Questions? We’d love to hear from you 🤗

Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving! At Core Connections, we are thankful for the opportunity to improve peoples' lives via pelvic health. We don't take it lightly that people trust us with their most vulnerable and vital functions - bladder, bowel, reproductive, and s3xual health. To our dear patients, we celebrate your courage and dedication, and are thankful for the opportunity to walk with you on your journey to pelvic wellness.

❣️Yes, absolutely! There are no contraindications to performing internal treatments while you’re menstruating.

❣️As always, if you prefer not to do internal treatments, that is completely okay. There is typically so much to do outside of the pelvis that is important for your healing.

❣️If symptoms are worse during your cycle, coming at that time provides a unique opportunity to get more data, and treatment may offer some relief. Logistically, some people prefer to remove tampons or menstrual cups prior to arriving at the clinic or doing internal treatments, and we can always put extra pads down for heavier flow days.

What’s impacted when you’re impacted?! 🪨 Constipation is linked to back pain, urinary leakage, overactive bladder, pelvic pain, pain with pe*******on & more💩

👉🏼 If any of the following are true, you may be constipated: 3 bm’s/week, straining or pushing, stools are hard or lumpy, or don’t feel like you’re emptying completely

👉🏼 Many factors influence your bowels, but a healthy pelvic floor is critical for regular, easy-to-pass bowel movements.

👉🏼 If you’re tired of pushing & hoping *today is the day* for BM, it’s time to call the pro’s

👉🏼 & if you’ve tried to address it before without success, your pelvic floor might be the missing piece.

💡That’s our specialty! Training pelvic floors & teaching better bowel habits so that you can enter your *Constipation-Free Era*

Some actual spookies🕸️
A mostly postpartum edition, because as a society we need to do better for birthing people🧑🏽‍🍼

10/26/2023

Addressing the root cause is always the goal 💚 We believe this allows us to help our patients achieve lasting relief, instead of playing whack-a-mole by only treating symptoms without a true understanding or plan.
We truly appreciate the opportunity to serve our patients and change their lives for the better.

But seriously, kegels are not comprehensive pelvic health care, you don’t have to p*e your pants, and as for the last slide…wrong on so many levels 🫠 questions? We’d love to help 🫶🏼👻

10/06/2023

We are honored to walk alongside you in your healing journey for the pelvic floor and beyond! 💚 And given the close relationships between the pelvic floor, core, low back, and hips, we often see improvements in multiple areas at once 👏🏽🫶🏼

🤔Not sure if you have pelvic floor issues? Take the quiz!

✔️If you mark 3 or more, there is a 91% chance that pelvic floor dysfunction is present. We recommend reaching out to a pelvic floor therapist for assessment and treatment.
Sometimes we find that there’s pelvic floor involvement with sneaky things like persistent low back or hip pain that hasn’t responded to other treatment, and this screening tool is a great way to figure out if the pelvic floor might be involved!
Ps - this is also a great tool for other healthcare pros to screen for PFD 😉
