Road closures alert

ROAD CLOSURE ALERT!

Notice the difference in the shape of the rebar at the top of the columns in the upper left box. The rebar in the upper right box is in a standard shape for a cast-in-place column. The rebar in the left panel is bent to accommodate an eccentric bent or C-bent.

C-bent is a column cap with a cantilevered beam on one side. They are usually used where the bridge column has to be offset due to space restrictions, such as an existing roadway, or underground obstructions, such as utility lines. In the bottom panel, you can see what an eccentric bent or C-bent looks like when it is complete.

TXDOT ROAD CLOSURE INFO:

Formwork is being removed from this column cap on the westbound frontage road of Loop 1604 near Gateway Boulevard. Concrete takes an average of four days to cure before the formwork can be removed. Notice the detail of the “Star of Texas” at the end of the column cap. In a couple of months, concrete beams will be placed on this column that stands roughly 40 feet tall.

There will be closures throughout Live Oak's shopping areas including the Forum, Gateway Shopping, and the Live Oak Town Center. Please take the time to read through the closures to avoid delays.

Full closure of southbound frontage road from IKEA-RBFCU Parkway to Pat Booker Road, eastbound Loop 1604 to southbound I-35 connector ramp closure, and southbound I-35 collector ramp closure at the Loop 1604 interchange for striping and barrier work. Traffic should follow detour signs.

• Sunday, January 28, until Saturday, February 3, 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Full closure on southbound I-35 to westbound Loop 1604 connector ramp and alternating lane closures on southbound mainlanes of I-35 at the exit to Loop 1604 for bridge substructure work. Southbound I-35 to Loop 1604 traffic should exit at Retama Parkway and follow the detour signs to Loop 1604.

• Sunday, January 28, until Saturday, February 3, 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Full closure on southbound I-35 collector ramp at the Loop 1604 interchange for striping and barrier work. Traffic must use west Loop 1604 (exit 172) to access southbound I-35 and follow detour signs.

• Sunday, January 28, until Saturday, February 3, 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Full closure on westbound Loop 1604 to southbound I-35 connector ramp for earthwork. Traffic must exit at Lookout Road and follow the detour signs to southbound I-35.

Loop 1604 to Toepperwein Road
Northbound
• Sunday, January 28, until Saturday, February 3, 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Full closure of I-35 Access Road bridge from I-35 northbound frontage road to I-35 southbound frontage road, near Shin Oak Drive for construction work. Traffic should follow detour signs.

• Sunday, January 28, until Saturday, February 3, 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Alternating lane closures on northbound frontage road of I-35 from Sandpiper Drive to Pat Booker Road for bridge structure work.

• Sunday, January 28, until Saturday, February 3, 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Multiple lane closures (3) on northbound mainlanes of I-35 from I-35 Access Road near Shin Oak Drive to Forum Parkway for striping, barrier, and temporary pavement work.

Southbound
• Through Sunday, September 8, long-term closure (24/7). Left lane closure on southbound frontage road of I-35 from McMorris Boulevard to Pat Booker Road for construction.

• Through Friday, March 8, long-term closure (24/7). Left lane closure on northbound frontage road of I-35 from Bludau-Bishop Road to Judson Road for permanent widening and drainage work.

• Through Saturday, August 3, long-term closure (24/7). Left lane closure on northbound frontage road of I-35 from Weidner Road to O'Connor Road for construction work.

• Sunday, January 28, until Saturday, February 3, 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Multiple lane closures (2) on northbound frontage road, alternating entrance ramp closures, and exit ramp closure of I-35 from Weidner Road to Bludau-Bishop Road for earthwork and striping. Traffic should follow the detour signs to the available ramps.

Southbound
• Sunday, January 28, until Saturday, February 3, 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Multiple lane closures (3) on southbound mainlanes, entrance ramp closure, exit ramp closure, and alternating lane closures on southbound frontage road of I-35 from Weidner Road to Thousand Oaks Drive for drainage and structures work. Loop 1604 Interchange to Nacogdoches Road
Eastbound
• Through Saturday, February 10, long term (24/7). Eastbound to westbound Loop 1604 turnaround closure from Nacogdoches Road to Union Pacific Railroad for bridge demolition work. Traffic should use Lookout Road intersection.

• Sunday, January 28, until Saturday, February 3, 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Full closure on eastbound frontage road of Loop 1604 and exit ramp closure from Lookout Road to IKEA-RBFCU Parkway for column cap work. Traffic should follow detour signs.
Westbound

• Through Thursday, February 8, long term (24/7). Westbound to eastbound Loop 1604 turnaround closure from Lookout Road to Union Pacific Railroad for bridge demolition work. Traffic must use Nacogdoches Road turnaround.

• Sunday, January 28, until Saturday, February 3, 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Full closure on westbound frontage road of Loop 1604 from Gateway Boulevard to Gateway Place, full closure on southbound I-35 to westbound Loop 1604 connector ramp, and exit ramp closure to frontage road for column cap work. Traffic should follow detour signs.

• Wednesday, January 31, until Saturday, February 3, 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Full closure of Lookout Road intersection and turnarounds for striping. Traffic must exit Loop 1604 exit ramp to Lookout Road and follow detour signs.
