Last Fall we created a very intentional collaboration with , where they designed an exhibit around civic engagement that was brought to life by illustrated art and a candle sensory experience.

A quote by “Imagination Inspires Nations” inspired a beautiful piece of art created by that we used as the label design for our IMAGINA “Imagine That”candle.

A few days ago I got a text that our collab partner had a rare chance opportunity while attending the conference to gift Janelle our candle 🤯 and she did just that!

Now ya girl is praying she enjoys its scent, positive energy and intentional messaging…and maybe she’ll even share/tag us. A girl can dream right???!!!

Every candle tells a story…

Growing up my mother took me to New York almost every summer. This is the first place she called home upon immigrating from Peru. My brother’s were both born in Queens, and my mother would often go back to visit her neighborhood friends, many of whom became like family to us.

This is where my first memory of visiting Spanish Harlem begins…a place where I always felt welcomed, represented, and seen. A place where our culture thrives and makes its presence known.

Spanish Harlem aka “El Barrio” celebrates the rich history and culture of a community, known for its contributions to Latin freestyle and Salsa music.

The name reflects the substantial impact of the Hispanic and Latino communities that have defined its identity. Spanish Harlem has a rich history that dates back to the early 20th century, when Puerto Rican migrants first settled in the area. Since then, it has evolved into a vibrant center for Latin American culture, art, music, and cuisine.

Just like it’s name, our Spanish Harlem candle pays homage to a story rooted in resilience, cultural identity, and community empowerment.

As a brand that values being transparent, we believe in sharing our own personal journey to implementing more acts of self-care into our lives.

It’s been a little quiet on our socials over the past month, and the break I took was very much intentional. While 2023 was filled with so many highs and a lot to be grateful for, there were also a lot of lows and stressful moments that left me feeling depleted. By the end of the year, I felt emotionally and physically exhausted and I was SO ready to hit that reset button.

During this intentional time off, lighting a candle and allowing the aromas to fill my sanctuary with positive energy gave me the clarity I needed to nurture my mental and emotional health, while creating more of a balance in my daily routine.

My goal for this year is to thrive with ease, and I believe that implementing more rest and self-love will enable me to slowly move out of feeling like I’m constantly in survival mode or hustling with no end in sight.

Here’s to thriving with ease in 2024!
