Virginia Tech is a pretty amazing place. It is a major research institution with about 37,000 students in total on a 2,600-acre campus. Undergraduates have opportunities to choose from among 13 different flavors of Engineering (in addition to "General Engineering"), and there are 11 different options to specialize within the College of Business. The "College of Architecture and Urban Studies" and the "College of Agriculture and Life Sciences" are especially strong as well. There are (2) aspects that I think make Virginia Tech quite special. First, the "Pathways to General Education" program is a very flexible program by which students can complete an interdisciplinary minor, or a hands-on learning experience, or a study abroad program. Secondly, the "Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center" is a multi-location business park that has attracted over 750 corporate organizations, where space is created to allow innovators to have access to resources and partnerships.

The University of Arizona is a very large public university with over 36,000 undergraduates and over 46,000 students in total. With the wide variety of academic offerings and a forward-thinking strategic plan, the university seeks to provide ongoing student success in a changing world. The W.A Franke Honors College promises to challenge and support the most exceptional students. Boise State University (BSU) is a public research university with about 26,000 total students and about 200 different majors. BSU participates in the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) tuition discount program, making it a good value for the money for students in nearby states. The campus is growing, with new state-of-the-art research labs, living and dining spaces, and a brand new high-tech home for the visual arts. Located in the small, friendly university town of Auburn, AL, Auburn University has about 25,000 undergraduates and about 31,500 students in total. Auburn's programs in engineering, agriculture, and the health fields are among the best. The Auburn campus is beautiful, friendly, and full of traditions. One fun tradition is something called, "Hey Day", on which students wear name tags and say "hey" to everyone they pass. Toomer's Corner is one of the most recognizable landmarks on campus, and the lemonade at Toomer's Drugs is legendary. Student conduct is guided by "The Auburn Creed", and "War Eagle" is their battle cry.

The student population at Sac State is growing (record total enrollment of just over 31,500). Thanks to incentive programs encouraging students to take 30 units per year, the graduation rate is increasing faster than any of the other CSU campuses. Fun Fact - There are over 3,700 trees on campus, and Sac State has consistently been named a "Tree Campus USA" by the Arbor Day Foundation. Particularly strong programs include Business, Communication, Engineering, and Criminal Justice and Safety Studies. The location in the state capital provides many internship opportunities.
