Heather's hair is always a challenge (forever fighting warmth), but I love every minute she’s in my chair!

I'm excited to see carousels making a comeback! They let me showcase different lighting and live shots of hair in motion. It's much more organic and totally my vibe compared to super staged photos, especially with a beautiful balayage on curly hair like this. 😍

Meet Film

Her hair came with a multicolored script, but we developed a beautiful, warm balayage for that perfect summer glow. Stunning at every angle 😍

Your hair is as unique as you are, and understanding its type is crucial for effective care and styling. While terms like thin, medium, and dense are often used, they actually describe hair density (the number of hairs on your head) and not the thickness of individual strands. We will tackle the world of hair density in an upcoming article. For now, let’s focus on the real science of hair types—fine, medium, and coarse—and how to care for each to achieve stunning results.

Ana gets a fresh new look!!

I don't see Ana often (cuz she lives way out by London) but when I do 🤌🏻🤌🏻

Ana's energy is infectious and I adore our conversations around culture, global responsibility, Bruja, + astrology. 🥰

A Cadō cut and brightened blonde for my girl 😘

In the four years I've been doing Emily's hair, we've always gone for a bouncy blowout or curled style. But now that she's a new mama, she's embracing her natural curls—less daily blowout hassle, healthier hair growth, and the best part? Being a curly head means endless styling options. 💕

Side Note - Freshly lightened hair may initially appear a bit in shock. Don't worry, it will bounce back in no time.

The Postpartum Hair Loss Panic – Keep Calm and Grow On

Bringing new life into the world is a miraculous experience, but it can also bring unexpected changes to your body—like postpartum hair loss. This temporary condition, also known as telogen effluvium, is something many new moms experience around three to six months after giving birth. Curious about why it happens and how you can handle it with a little less stress?

Let's read on, shall we?! - at blondedoctorhair.com

Taylor took a much-needed 9-month break from lightening, which is a significant amount of time for a blonde. This period was essential for her hair’s health and recovery.

During this time off, she rehabbed her hair to regain its strength and played around with heatless styles. When she was ready, we were able to safely lighten her hair and work through the various tones to achieve this beautiful result.

I wish we could have styled her hair with some curls, but she had to rush off to a baseball game!

Feeling like a proud big sis over here! 🥰

It's been a privilege doing Jalysa's hair for the past four years. We've stuck with a practical, one-length (no layers, no face frame - nothin') style for all those dance competitions, but with graduation just around the corner (and her final competition!), it was time for a change. We both (okay, maybe mostly me) have been wanting to see her gorgeous waves with some layers, and let me tell you, they didn't disappoint!

Jalysa started coming to the salon when she was 14 and a bit shy (she would barely talk to me). But with her mom's support (who has the complete opposite hair type), we developed a fantastic home care routine that's kept her hair healthy and manageable. They followed my recommendations to a tee, and it really shows! She now embraces her natural waves with confidence as her daily style, but a blowout with this new cut was a must.

As far as her color goes, we deepen her natural color a couple of shades with a cool, chocolate, barely-there balayage.

Can't wait to see how she continues to grow through her University years. 🥰

When cutting curly hair, the expanded shape is always my favorite.

But my second? The flipped over shape!

I'm so happy snapped these last shots because they not only show off the cut so well (although I see some things I should've snipped -perfectionistic habits), but also highlight different aspects of the color!

Working on this 3-way collab with + on was a highlight for sure from NH week. 💕

Despite my aversion to messiness, this balayage correction proves that even a little bit of chaos can lead to stunning results.

When I tell you I did NOT want to cut her length 🤣

Even though I'm a sucker for long hair, I had to admit her curls needed a refresh. So, I went ahead and gave her the cut she wanted. One of my quirks as a stylist is always wanting to keep the length!

Ya know that one girl who is always changing up her hair?

Meet Daniela, the girl who's always ready for something different. Every appointment with her is a surprise (especially when lifting out past color). I've honestly learned so much about color while working on her head. The best part is she never has a set idea in her head of what she expects, and she always loves it! Daniela is such a fun client to have in my chair. 🥰

Over our three-year journey, we've tried nearly everything, except for on-scalp, global bleach. Here's a glimpse of some of the looks we've created together (in chronological order). The last picture is our first appointment during Covid in 2020.

Which look is your favorite?

*not pictured - going all over dark brunette with platinum money pieces between pics 4 & 5. Or the time the purple shampoo she used turned her hair and extensions pink. 🤣

We live in a dynamic world of hair care. Understanding the nuances of maintenance appointments at salons is key to keeping your hair healthy and vivacious. While it may seem daunting, grasping the basics can empower you to make informed decisions. I hope this helps align with your lifestyle and goals, such as budget, time in the chair, hair health, lifestyle, dimension vs. full coverage, and more. Your maintenance routine should look however you want it to look.

Rainy days (and other lady things) call for cozy couch work sessions.

Posting on social media might not be my favorite (mostly because all these insane algorithms and nonsense they keep coming up with), but showcasing this stunning balayage makes it worth it. 🤣

Capturing transformations in the dim evening light can be a challenge, but this stunning makeover shines bright regardless.

Lots of foils later and she's back to being a blondie!

Color corrections are my favorite, especially when the result is this stunning! Many clients come to me after being told their hair can't go as light as they want. Challenge accepted, and the results speak for themselves!

From multiple different shades to one beautiful blend. 😍

Performing a major chop always gives me a bit of anxiety. Y'all know I LOVE long hair. I, personally, had a bad experience with a chop when I was younger, and it's stuck with me ever since.

But a few months ago, I had a lovely woman come in and ask for me to cut it all off. It, by far, was the biggest chop of my entire career!

It was a thrilling experience, and she was so happy with the results! There's something incredibly empowering about transforming someone's look with a bold, new haircut and embracing your curls along with it.

Birthday refresh for the Blondie Queen 💕

Photos from Blonde Doctor's post 04/12/2024

I mean, I don't want to throw shade, but we had a bit of a situation with her hair.

Here's the deal: the ends of hair need some extra attention because they're more keratinized, while the the top is easy to lighten up. You can see this in pic 2.

Her goal? A look that keeps her out of the salon chair for most of the year. So, we took her back to her natural root, seamlessly blending it into her existing highlights. Then, I went freehand with the balayage, starting where the highlights seemed to fade out. Finished it off with a toner that'll age like fine wine.

And there you have it! A gorgeous brunette balayage that brightened her up in more ways than one. 💕
