How To Organize My Garage

Today I worked with Shirley on her garage project. Her goal was to create enough room in her garage to be able to park 2 cars inside and be able to walk around them comfortably. The first two pictures show her garage at the beginning of our appointment. We went through her boxes one by one and she decided what she wanted to keep, to give away, and what to throw away. At the end of the 3 1/2 hour appointment everything Shirley wanted to keep in her garage was stacked up against the walls, and we made a big pile on the right side of her garage of items that she will be donating. Once those items are picked up she will be able to park two cars in her garage!

Today I worked with M & R on organizing their 2-car garage in Torrance. They already had lots of empty open cabinets in their garage. Their first goal was to have enough space to park their plug in van in the garage so that they could charge it overnight.

We took everything on the floor out and sorted the items into 2 piles: keep and give/throw away. After that we began putting items into their cabinets and in the end there was enough room for their van!

Over the weekend I worked with a friend in San Dimas with her garage organization.

Her garage was a great project because she already had the items in her garage easily accessible. Most of our time was spent sorting items and brainstorming future goals for her garage. At the end of the appointment, she found several items she plans on selling and/or giving away. I was able to take some items in my car to goodwill for her to donate. Some of the new goals we came up with are installing new LED lighting, as well as getting rid of the wooden shelving and putting those items into ceiling storage

My clients in Thousand Oaks had already begun to reorganize their space before our appointment. They had a great deal of shelving on two sides of their garage which was awesome to utilize. At the end of the appointment all the items that were left of the floor will be put in their shed in the backyard. One awesome storage solution that they already had was a pegboard section on the wall with a wooden drill storage system.

My clients in Rancho Estates, Long Beach moved to their home less than a year ago and they hadn’t made any detailed plans for how they wanted to use their garage space. We were able to move several items into their driveway that they planned on giving away. Most other items were placed in the storage shelving in the back of the garage. Eventually they plan on having a more permanent workbench on the East side and set up a workout space on the floor. It was a fantastic experience!

I’m excited to share some before and after photos from one of my very first garage organizing projects. This one took place in Riverside, California, at the Jordan residence. The Jordans wanted to focus on their storage shelving, so we worked on organizing and reducing the items in that area. This opened up space for other items to be stored there, which you can see allowed for the entire garage to have more space in the end. They were really happy with the end result!
