The tenth and final addition to “The 10 Day Recording Project”

This will be a long one, so continue reading if you dare…

Recording music is really just a hobby for me now.
I used to have dreams of recording great works out of my home studio, but for the most part, I’ve let that go.
I’ve learned that it’s easier for me to go into a full-time professional studio to create recordings that are of the highest quality.
That said, I do enjoy the never ending experimentation and process of recording music, and creating video for that matter.

For most people who have a home recording studio, they know the struggles of finding time to simply create.
This is why I create these little projects, such as “The 10 Day Recording Project”.
With each project, an exploration is created.
Usually I’m looking to create something fast and furious.
This means that quality is often surrendered for the sake of completion.
I’m totally OK with it.
In fact, I love it!
It’s like solving a puzzle.
It’s a practice in acceptance over judgment.

Do my creations sound great?
Rarely, but a few do at times.
Is this sort of recording project listenable for most people?
Absolutely not.
Music is such a personal thing.
Most people in the west have been conditioned to listen to things that are ridiculously overprocessed, perfect to a fault, etc.
Such as the way of commercialism and pop music.
I’m not mad about it, but I see it for what it is not.
I think anyone who has been following my progression on this artist page or has been following me long before social media, understands that I am not a squeaky clean product.

I’m admittedly kind of weird.
I don’t really gravitate to popular things that the majority seem to love.
It’s cool.
I’m in my own weirdo bubble, and I certainly do not expect anyone to understand or find any interest in it.
Yet, I still keep on creating for my own sake.
I’m not exactly sure why I do this, but I do.

In regards to the completion of this recent project, I will state a few thoughts in no particular order:

This project started on March 27, 2024, with the goal of having 10 random recordings created in 10 days.
It took 23 days for me to complete.
Much of this was due to lack of time, focus on my regular, live gigs, etc.

I went down a lot of rabbit holes on this one.
I tried to complete each recording within one day, and I did for the most part.
Completing a recording as quickly as possible was the focus.

I use the recording unit called Audigo for most of the recordings.
It’s new technology.
It’s actually quite powerful.
I’ve just scratched the surface, but will continue to record with this device when appropriate.

Recording audio was just part of it.
Creating a video for the audio is also part of the creation.
How else am I going to share it?

Most of these creations are created one step at a time, in the moment, with no thought or preconceived idea.
In many cases, I just played drums for few minutes.
Then I add some chords.
Then I add whatever else comes to mind.
It really is an interesting practice and trust, non-judgment, discovery, etc.

Honestly, I’m surprised anyone listens and views these videos at all.
There are other times on social media, where I am really pushing the numbers and the views, and looking to get information out there.
This isn’t one of those times.
In the past, I have created random recordings and videos, and never shared them.
They live in a dropbox file in the cloud somewhere.
My feeling is that I may as well share them on this artist page, rather than not sharing them at all.
Most people won’t understand that belief, and I’m cool with it.
