Treating asthma is one thing, but understanding how that treatment can affect your oral health is another entirely! If you're using an inhaler, it's important to remember the following:
π Albuterol or corticosteroids, the medication found in most asthma treatment options, can cause different oral issues including cavity development, dry mouth, or tooth decay. How does this happen? When an inhaler is used, the medication can leave a film on your teeth and gums, leading to complications.
π« When not considered, oral health issues can develop into more serious complications, including the potential for a greater risk of chronic lung infections, influenza, and in some cases, worsened asthma.
βοΈ Keeping these complications from happening while using an inhaler is simple: Just rinse your mouth! Rinsing your mouth after inhaler use washes away any film leftover on the teeth and gums. Brushing and flossing also helps!
Visit our website for more.
