It wasn’t until the 1980’s that car manufacturers began using a clear coat of paint over the paint job in the exterior of their vehicles. Prior to the ‘80’s, the paint on the car was all there was. This meant that the car needed to be waxed quite often to keep the color and the shine maintained. Nowadays, that clear coat is put on top to give the car a bit of a shine and to protect the paint from the elements.
Does this mean you do not have to wax your car? No, it is recommended that car have a good wax 2-4 times a year to keep the exterior looking shiny and protecting it from damage caused by the environment.

Having your headlights restored is one of the best things you can do for your car’s value and your family’s safety. We take great pride in our headlight restoration work. But what is underneath those headlight covers?
One type of bulb typically used in a Halogen Bulb. They are the best value money-wise and come in a large variety of sizes and dimensions. However, they are not very efficient and only last about 1,000 hours.
Call us today and make an appointment for your headlight restoration!

Many people have questions about the legalities of window tinting. For a regular sedan the back windows, including the rear window can be of any darkness, they also cannot be more reflective than a standard window. Driver’s and passenger side windows can be tinted but must allow 70% of light through. They also cannot be more reflective than a standard window. The windshield is a little different, being only allowed 4 inches of non-reflective tint at the top. Seem confusing? We can help! Call and make an appointment!

Everyone gets busy, we get it! So we thought we would help you out by giving you a few helpful tips on how to keep your car in good shape in between professional detailing.
1. If you have a serious spill that leaves soil or stains, try removing the seats from the vehicle to clean them. Just don’t forget to unhook and hook back up the wiring underneath the seats. Removing the seats will make it so much easier to really get to that stain.
2. If you need to shampoo your floor mats or any carpeting or any fabric on the inside of your vehicle, it is very important for you to make sure that you properly and thoroughly rinse any cleaning products from the fibers. If you fail to do so, the cleaning agents will actually make things worse.
3. Finally, a good polish and cleaner applied to your vehicle between professional detailing will keep your vehicle’s paint looking great and reduce the look of any scratches.
We recommend a full detail at least once a month (depending on your lifestyle) in order to preserve your vehicle’s look and value! Make an appointment for your full service detail today and don’t forget to ask about our other services!

Need some help with some ugly oil stains on your once pristine leather seats and interior? No problem! Oil spots occur when oil is used to condition the leather over an extended period of time. This causes the breaking down of the protective top layer. When this happens the oil begins to seep into the seats and collect underneath. As it fills up, the oil begins to rise to the top and this is when you begin seeing these ugly oil spots!

Keep your paint looking great by removing bug carcasses as quickly as possible. We have all been on a road trip, long or short, only to reach our destination to find the front of our car covered in bug juice. Unfortunately, these bugs seek to destroy your car after death and produce enzymes that are to aid in the decomposition of their bodies, however, these enzymes also love to eat your vehicles paint. This can cause etching, which is much more difficult to correct. Bring your vehicle right in and we will get the “beetle juice” off in no time!

Getting in those tiny air vents can be a pain. We suggest Q-tips or even a simple foam paint brush to clean those little spaces. Just dip the end into your preferred kind of cleaner and scrub the grime away.

There is so much to love about a boat. However, sometimes they need to come out of the water for maintenance and a good detailed cleaning, by us of course.
Some ideas for getting boats, especially large ones, out of the water are great. This one not so much…We can’t save the truck, but we may be able to buff the damage off the boat.

Taking a cruise on your motorcycle is easy. Hop on and ride. Whether it’s a moonlight cruise or a daytime drive, motorcycle riding is a great way to relieve stress. However, all of those rides collect dust, dirt and grime that stick to the tiny crevices and cracks in the engine and transmission. Over time they can really dull the metal and make your bike look old. Cleaning these parts of your bike can be a pain, as it is really difficult to get in there and really get the dirt out. Here at Long Beach Auto Detail we are happy to clean those parts and the rest of your motorcycle to keep it looking great and in mint condition. Give us a call to set up an appointment today!

Car washes have been a part of life since cars were invented. In 1914, in Detroit Michigan, two men opened up a business called, “Automated Laundry.” Catch was, it wasn’t really automated. Two attendants manually pushed a vehicle from one attendant station to another. At each station there was an attendant to wash the car, the next would rinse and the third would dry. Finally, in 1940 Hollywood, the first conveyor belt was used to move the cars to each attendant so the manual labor of the attendants pushing the car through was eliminated. Then in Seattle, in 1957, three brothers Archie, Eldon and Dean Anderson developed the first completely hands-free carwash, evolving over the next 58 years to the carwashes we have today. However, carwashes can still cause damage to your vehicle. A hands on approach is the best way to ensure that your exterior is protected and lasts for years to come! Come on in and let us wash your car the old fashioned way!

When it comes to dealer options in regards to purchasing a new vehicle, there are some services that are not worth the money and would better off be done by a professional detailing shop. One of the biggest options to turn down is the New Car Prep, also called the Paint Protection. This service is ridiculously overpriced and usually consists of a wash and a wax, nothing a detailer couldn’t do for you for half the price! Having you car rustproofed is also an option to steer clear from. Unless you live in place that experience a lot of winter weather, the galvanized metal of today’s vehicles protects a car from rusting. Even if this is something you want, having it done by a body shop will be cheaper and getting it reapplied yearly will be much easier. Bring your new baby to our shop and let us help you keep her paint and metal clean, the inside clean and even tint the windows for less than a dealership will charge you! Make an appointment today!
