UC Irvine is now accepting applications for our NSF-funded Center for Complex and Active Materials Research Experiences for Undergraduates. This 8-weeks research experience allows Hands-on research guided by faculty mentors and graduate students. Some of the topics that are researched are complex concentrated materials , Bioinspired active materials , machine learning and more. This program also grants a $4,800 stipend, guest speakers and graduate school preparation workshops.

The MESA IDEA Accelerator project aims to provide training to MESA’s 4-year university students in the tech startup accelerator process to build their entrepreneurship skills. Throughout its history, while MESA has prepared its post-secondary students to enter the STEM workforce as entry-level engineers and scientists, the program has not provided entrepreneurship training or meaningful exposure to the world of tech startups.

Join other college students interested in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM), recent STEM graduates, and exceptionally motivated high school students for a fun and educational course this summer. Not only open for STEM students, but also for non-STEM students to open your perspective to STEM.
The 6-week course will meet in June and July. Sessions will be live and recorded to fit your schedule. Emma Haruka Iwao (b. 1984) is a mathematician and computer scientist who broke the Guinness world record for calculating the most digits of pi in 2019, and held that record until 2020. Fascinated with pi since childhood, she calculated pi on her computer when she was 12 years old! Inspired by her own fascination with pi, Iwao and a Google team computed pi to 31.4 trillion decimal places (3.14 x 1013), far more digits than the previous record.
