Since the rain ruined a beautiful weather streak it’s the perfect time to remember that we are always at whim of Tlaloc.
Ruler of the rain, the origins of Tlaloc can be traced back to Teotihuacan and the Olmec. The rain god was called Chaac by the
ancient Maya and Cocijo by the Zapotec of Oaxaca.
This cocktail is dedicated to this deity for all the same reasons our ancient ancestors worshipped him. Known here as the local drunk tio of a Dark and Stormy, the wrath of this drink will settle in your stomach with the warmth of a thousand suns but will rain on your sunshine if you aren’t careful.
Lucky for you we have a hefty amount of food to tame the storm!

Come by and enjoy the outdoors!
“Steeped in ancient mythology and closely tied to the founding of the Aztec city of Tenochtitlán, the nopal has become an emblem of resilience and national identity.
Adorning the arid and semi-arid landscapes of Mexico, the nopal cactus is a testament to the power of adaptation. Though its exact origins remain unconfirmed, it is widely believed to have originated in Mexico. Revered across the Americas since before the Spanish conquest, the nopal has been immortalized in codices, paintings, and ancient treatises – a nod to its longstanding cultural significance.”

Is it a tiki bar? Is it Latin grill? 🌞
Marie’s is a special place. When we first envisioned our next concept nothing pulled harder on the strings of our hearts than to take our people back to our roots.
Latin America is a culturally rich place, fully of beauty in the arts, sciences, food, music and overall culture. We wanted to create space that celebrates the cultures of ancient Mesoamerica that gave birth to our modern day societies.
Whether it be the workers who labor away for the time we enjoy, the recipes from ancestors in the food that we enjoy, or the pleasure of being someone who has been blessed to be drowned in the beauty of all of these things— it’s our history that we want to celebrate at Marie’s.
Life’s hard. Enjoying yourself in this beautiful weather shouldn’t be and we’re here to take you away to paradise when you have to show up for work on Monday.
Join us Cinco de Mayo, for our opening ceremonies celebration and the start of season two of Marie’s Tek Tec.
¡Damas y caballeros! We’re officially announcing Season 2 of Marie’s Tek Tec!
This season includes completely new cocktail menu, new food items and some new interactive space features. More will be announce in the coming weeks but save the date:
Cinco de Mayo Weeked. Aztec ritual cleansing, guest bartenders, Olmec Head release and our grand opening! Hope to see you there!!

The vision for Marie’s
The Name:
Marie’s is an acronym of words that have been put together from various indigenous languages from Latin America. Here they are with the loose translation of each. M-mba'apo'y=liesure, A-Aimoa=I think, R-Reko=to hold, I- Ipora=good, E-eguahé porá!=welcome, and S-Syry=to flow. Or as a phrase, Leisure, I think, is to hold a good and welcoming flow.
Why do we call it a "Tek~Tec" Bar?
Tech in Nahuatl is used as a suffix and also as a prefix. As a prefix it means "us", and as a suffix, it means "next to, or adhering to". To take this as the name for this style of bar our desire was to form a foundation that draws attention to Latin American totems, the positive aspects of their culture and celebrates them by artistic renderings that reference those early cultures, music and beverages/spirits that have evolved from that area. Some of these cultures are Olmec, Teotihuacan, Maya, Zapotec, Mixtec, Huastec, Purepecha, Toltec, Inca, "Muisca" or "Muysca", Valdivia, Quimbaya, Calima, the Tairona, the Quechuas, the Norte Chico, and the Aymara.
