Why don’t you go take a hike‼️😆🤓. For real though lol. Zone 2 cardio with much less impact on the knees abs hips. Than jogging. Getting sun and being outdoors is always a bonus as well. I love the growing popularity of rucking. If can get on a uphill treadmill that’ll work as well, but you gotta figure our ancestors from not even that long ago spent the majority of their day outdoors. 🤔And no skin cancer..hmmm. Good vitamin D, good circadian rhythm, so good sleep..therefore good recovery and hormones. Get outside folks👌🏽😉
Wall sit! So basic, so effective, and can be done almost anywhere. My favorite way to use them is as a pre-exhaust prior to lunges or squats. This can be an excellent choice when u need a leg workout, and you only have bodyweight to work with. The height of “sit” or angle at the knee can be adjusted to emphasize where on the thighs you want to feel the burn. No equipment needed. Get ‘em in😉👌🏽
Passing the guard. Some do it with speed.. some do it with a combination of static strength and technique. Either way, you better have the conditioning to do it multiple times in a single roll roll/fight. Check out my strength and conditioning program via matfit.org if your a grappler. And then there was one. When I originally signed there was 3 men in the bracket. By the time I checked again, two days prior it was only me😐. I figured they would mesh divisions together. After weigh ins they did what they could. My options were for purple belt opponents were a 35 yr old 203 lb-er, a 20 yr old my weight, or a credit for another event. I figured at their worlds tournament they would likely have more competitors at my age. Really wanted to test myself against my age and size. So I guess sport jiu jitsu worlds is in my future. 🤔I think they usually do that one in Lb.👌🏽
Oh the running days. At this point I probably thought I would do at least one 10k a year the majority of my life. 6.2 miles just might be the right amount of distance that training for it won’t beat down the joints too bad, and being able to push hard for 40-50 minutes is definitely something that can carry over to my grappling sessions/tournaments as well as other sports. Lol all that being said I no longer do any running at all. I support physical activity of any kind, but it just happens to be that goals and knowledge change as we grow. I’m in this fitness thing for the long haul‼️😬
If performance is what you’re after… Nothing beats the assault bike. I would use this more for SIT versus HIIT. The difference with sprint interval cardio is you give a full 100% effort per interval with the appropriate recovery time. I can’t think of anything that will increase your VO2 max and practical cardio output any better than this piece of equipment.
Love seeing my Lb brothers and Marcel getting their recognition. Both very well deserved. No doubt these guys are both killers, and only getting better. To the white belts out there..put your head down, keep grinding, and before you know it your a skilled purple belt grappler as well‼️😎😉
This image is a good scenario of having to apply static strength. I’m talking about that squeeze from the core and grip..you know all the limbs working together to hold your opponent where he is, and hopefully advance to the next step toward submission. Imagine the bottom man here is a very wiggly and Athletic with good wiry strength. Holding him there will be no easy task😳😐. MatFIT strength and conditioning program for grapplers..out next week‼️💪🏽
Core work!. We all need it😳. Pro athletes, recreational athletes, seniors, moms, parents, grandparents.. I mean everyone. Unsure on which exercises strengthen core the most, hit me with a Dm. If you do know how to get in your basic planks and sit ups, but you’re looking for something a little different to strengthen core I can be helpful there too.

Intensity‼️..it’s definitely necessary. How much you ask..Well going to failure every round/set isn’t necessary, but you should get pretty close most of the time. All depends on your personal ability to recover and your frequency per muscle group. Dm with any questions🤙🏽🇺🇸..

With one armed dumbbell rows versus the 2 handed version you’ll notice you can go with quite a bit heavier. The lat will(the largest muscle in the back) contribute more. Mostly because of the stretch when letting the db hang at the bottom of the movement. Also a little rotation will happen because of the bilateral nature. Stabilizing the position takes a lot of effort when doing a two handed version. Not as much the case and using one arm. Both are great movements for developing back muscle and strength.
