Get this beautiful blue rarity! LARIMAR (pectolite) a extremely rare silicate stone formed in cavities within basaltic lava from the island of Hispaniola, in the Caribbean sea of the Dominican Republic.
The Taino Indians thousand years before Columbus arrived knew of blue Pectolite but not until 1916 the first records existed. 1957 the stone was seen washing up on the beach.
Not until 1974 Larimar (pectolite stone started making an appearance and trademarked Larimar after legal rights of ownership.
Over time mining this stone has been requiring construction of shafts to go 300 - 600 feet deeper and less than a single square mile.
It takes two years to excavate a new shaft. Due to the small deposits of Larimar the available quantity is unknown.
