As we enter our final day of service here at
À LA WAFFLE, I am filled with immense gratitude and excitement. It has been such a thrill to see all of our customers jam-packed in our store ever since our announcement of closure. Hearing all of your stories and the memories we have created here at À LA WAFFLE has been so incredible, and I feel so proud and honored by the community we have built.

Today, as I reflect, I look back on young Sara at 25 years old, who opened this dessert shop in 2017 with nothing but a dream and a naive baker’s heart. I am so incredibly proud of these past seven years, as they have been incredibly rewarding and life changing.

The excitement today is just as strong as it was when I first opened, but now it is supported by the foundation and outpouring love that has made this business so successful. I end tonight with a profound sense of accomplishment from these past seven years, and I could not have done it without my incredible employees, family, friends, and customers. Thank you all endlessly, and if you are coming in tonight, we appreciate your patience as the lines/wait times will be crazyyyyy 😅😊

It is with heartfelt emotions that we announce the upcoming closure of our cherished store in Los Alamitos after seven wonderful years. While bidding farewell to this location brings mixed feelings, we eagerly anticipate new beginnings on the horizon. Stay connected with us on social media for updates on our future endeavors.

“A La Waffle” is a cute little shop tucked away inside of an unassuming strip mall in the city of Los Alamitos. Google maps leads you to a different area but you will find A La Waffle off the main street. This place was very cozy and homey. The owner did phenomenal setting the ambiance to enjoy some great food.

I mentioned it was my first time she recommended the Banberry and Strawberry Shortcake. So I got her suggestions as well as Creme Brulee waffle.

Service (5/5): It was hands down the best service I've received from any business. When we walked in, the woman at the register greeted us and patiently walked us through the menu. They were very attentive, and it seemed like the owner (Sara Ho, only 25 y/o!!) made everything herself! Sarah even came by our table after each order to ask if our waffles were okay and offered to fix them if everything didn't add up to our expectations.

Food (6/5):

Crème Brûlée (5/5) - It was the perfect first impression. The bf couldn't stop muttering "Wow" after each bite, and it was gone within minutes!! The waffle itself was airy, crisp, and light. There was also a bit of crème brûlée with each bite. Yum! Never had a waffle like this in California before, but that's apparently how it's supposed to be in Belgium!

Blueberry Crumble (7/5) - This waffle rendered both of us speechless. Sounds dramatic, but the waffle is worth the drama. And it tastes just as good as it looks! The taste isn't overpowering and the crumble compliments the waffle well. We're not huge fans of whipped cream so we ordered without this time, but she gave us an extra scoop of ice cream--so sweet!

Both the bf and I are super supportive of Sarah's business. She's super sweet and opened up this place so that we could experience what delicious Belgium waffles actually taste like! My life has been a lie--I've never had a real waffle til now!! He also bought me an À La Waffle shirt LOL so I have a feeling this will be a normal spot for us. Overall, 5/5!!!

(Bf has always been a pancakes over waffles kinda guy... but hopefully he's now!!)

Everything is delicious and home made.
I love that they use less sugar than most bakeries. Just the way we cook at home.
Waffles are light and delicious. This is not your County Fair waffle!

Also, it's nice, comfortable and quiet inside. Which invites you to come in and relax.
