Ignite Tutoring LLC is a tutoring network staffed by UCLA student tutors servicing local elementary, middle, and high school students.
What sets our tutors apart is that they are not only exceptional scholars but are also role models and mentors.
On May 28th, women around the world unite to fight back against the governmental and social restrictions set on their own reproductive and sexual rights. Today, Ignite Tutoring uses its platform to bring attention to the current fight for more female reproductive rights and to encourage others to stay educated and get involved. Letty is from Fremont, CA and is majoring in Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics at UCLA. At school, Letty participates in various clubs and organizations such as UCLA Cardiology Research, LSSA Outreach Committee, SMIP, SLA-GC scholars, Club Beach Volleyball, USAC IVP Platform 1, and Pre-law Society. Outside of school, Letty enjoys volleyball, piano, baking/cooking, running, yoga, pilates, painting, snowboarding, traveling, and volunteering! She also has an ARSM piano performance diploma and is in the midst of getting her CPR/First Aid certification. Through tutoring, Letty loves to be able to guide students and expand upon their knowledge of everything beyond academics as a friend, mentor and teacher. “I am passionate about positively influencing others — tutoring allows me to empower and prepare the next generation to better the future!”

Bea is from San Carlos, CA and is currently a second-year at UCLA, majoring in World Arts and Cultures and minoring in Art History and Entrepreneurship. Fun fact about Bea—she's an incredibly gifted Irish Dancer. On campus, Bea is the Vice President of the Irish Dancers, a member of Yoga for Flexible Futures, a writer for UCLA’s Odyssey and New Member Chair of her sorority (wow!!). In her free time, she likes drawing and painting, film photography, and listening to podcasts. Bea loves tutoring because she believes when you fully grasp a skill or master content learning becomes much more rewarding and enjoyable. We would describe Bea as hard-working, very enthusiastic and positive.

Lina is from New Jersey and is currently a second-year at UCLA, majoring in Psychobiology. Lina is a member of PUMP (pre-med mentor program), Bruins Fighting Pediatric Cancer, Bruin Leaders Project and she currently serves on the Risk Management Chair for Kappa. Outside of school, Lina loves anything related to health and fitness, specifically pilates, yoga and long walks! Lina likes to point out that she actually really does love reading and loves to travel and explore. She is really interested in photography, especially film photography and dubs herself a shopping and coffee addict. Above all else, Lina loves kids. She thinks they are so fun to be around and make her feel like she is her best self when around crazy, creative, little ones. She hopes to one day be either a pediatrician or a sports medicine doctor. As someone who has always enjoyed learning, Lina thinks that it is most important to make learning fun and enjoyable. Through genuinely getting to know the client/child she is working with and forming a friendship first, she hopes to pass down her own excitement in the topics she is teaching and to create a fun and comfortable environment for the both of them to thrive in. She likes to lead by example and thinks that showing her bubbly personality will help clients enjoy learning too! We would describe Lina as energetic, funny and a hard-working.

Annika is from Munich, Germany and London, England and is currently a third-year at UCLA, majoring in Economics with a concentration in Value Investing and a minor in Public Affairs. Annika is the Internal Vice President of Bruin Asset Management, the Vice President of Finance of Alpha Phi and the Finance Director of Eurobruins. Outside of school, Annika enjoys songwriting, Soulcycle, soccer, alpine skiing, roadtrips, going to the beach, finding cute brunch/dinner spots with friends and spending time with her family! Annika interned at a mutual fund this past summer and will be interning at Goldman Sachs, New York this upcoming summer. She enjoys tutoring because she loves helping anyone and everyone in whatever way she can, “so please don’t hesitate to reach out!”

David is from Santa Barbara, California and is currently a Senior at UCLA, majoring in Applied Math and specializing in Computing. At UCLA, David is a member of the Ski Club and Snowboard team. He is also in a small band with some of his friends. Outside of school, David enjoys surfing, skiing, backpacking, playing the piano and painting! Ignite Tutoring choose to use its platform to uplift Black voices and issues this February, and every month, as we understand the importance of this month and what it commemorates.
As a way to show our support for Black History Month, we wanted to recognize some inspirational Black figures from our university communities who embody the spirit of this month.
Bela is originally from Louisiana! On campus, Bela is the Fundraiser Director and Media Director of Project Literacy, does Neurolinguistics Research with the Semel Institute, and is a Nursing Volunteer. In her free time, she loves reading and going to the beach. Aside from her extensive experience with teaching, Bela has received her Mathnasium Instructor Training Certification. She loves tutoring because she likes being able to share her personal methods for understanding concepts and helping kids finally understand their work. All in all she finds teaching really fulfilling.

Sterling is a fourth-year Mechanical Engineering Major at UCLA. On campus. Sterling participates in UCLA Solar Decathlon, Camp Kesem UCLA, and his fraternity, Sigma Chi. He is a LEED Green Associate and has a Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish. In his free time, he loves going to the beach, skiing in the mountains, or anything in between. He also loves music—Sterling has been playing bass for about ten years. In his own words, Sterling wants "to make learning challenging concepts interesting by connecting topics to each other and really trying to show why we learn these things. I am a huge fan of laughing and having a good time while still focusing on the work at hand. Hopefully that will make every session more enjoyable!"

She loves yoga, pilates, soulcycle, cooking, and is a lover of fashion. As a post-grad, she is soon to be certified in BLS (Basic Life Support), and is currently attending UCLA Dental School. In the past, Connie has experience working with low-income communities & students as well as profuse tutoring experience.
