We are looking for:
- Families of African American descent (Bi-racial accepted)

We want to know if there are genetic differences that may be unique to African American families with autism and figure out how behavioral and environmental factors may contribute to delays in diagnosis and access to care.
$250.00 + Feedback Report with behavioral assessment results given upon completion. If interested: TEXT Study Coordinator at 323.301.3921
We know you’re busy during the week. So, we offer Saturday appointment opportunities and cash compensation for your time. Most importantly, our research team will assess your child for autism spectrum disorder and provide a feedback report that gives an overview of your child’s...

Has anybody ever looked at your genome before? This is how we’d do it if you join the Autism Genetics & Human Diversity Project….except, nobody beyond a few members of the research team will know it was actually you. (Unless you tell people - we won’t.)

Is it safe to participate in the Autism Genetics & Human Diversity study? We think so! The UCLA Office of Human Research Protection classifies our study as “minimal risk” - similar to going to the doctor and getting a blood test. We hope you’ll consider joining forces with us to study the genetic contributors to ASD in Black families. Our study coordinator is more than happy to answer all your questions, so you can make an informed choice about whether our study is right for you.

Can we tell you more about the Autism Genetics & Human Diversity Project? Since 2008, we’ve been asking: is autism actually different in Black families, and if so, why?
Our research team is a collaboration between clinical psychologists, child behavior specialists, and scientists from leading universities who develop cutting-edge approaches in human genetics and genomics. If you’d like to join us in the search for genetic contributors to autism spectrum disorder, our study coordinator is eager to meet you.

“Research,” as defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary:
- studious inquiry or examination
- the collecting of information about a particular subject
We’re researching the genetic contributors to autism, especially in Black families. If you think you might want to help, this is how it works. Our study coordinator would love to meet you.

Every time you gather information to answer a question, that's research. We all do research to find answers to everyday questions like "how long will it rain tomorrow?" or "what time is that birthday party next week?"
Our question is, "What parts of a person's DNA influence whether they have autism?" We invite Black families to join the Autism Genetics & Human Diversity Project at UCLA to help us answer that question.
