We will be moving out of our beloved Sunset Blvd storefront next week. We’re not going away forever, but after much consideration we’ve decided to restructure operations and let go of our original retail space. We can’t share what’s next for us just yet, so stay tuned for updates on where you’ll soon find us.
This decision wasn’t made lightly, and I know it may come as a disappointment. A few years ago Soft Spirits was just a whimsy idea in my head and it became a reality bigger than I ever expected. From the day we opened it was clear the shop meant more than just bottles on shelves. Every single day our customers thank us for being here, thank us for helping them stay sober, thank us for easing their pregnancy, thank us for allowing them a wedding toast, and the list goes on. You’ve included us in your daily life and your most special moments and that’s not something I take for granted.
Unfortunately small businesses can’t run on love and passion, no matter how hard we’ve tried. We’ve been thrown curveball after curveball and managed to survive them all, but the truth is that I don’t want to spend my life putting out fires in a place I built to support my sobriety. Pressure to keep the shop afloat weighed on me heavily and making the choice not to drink was becoming harder, not easier. When it came time to renew our lease I realized Soft Spirits in its current iteration was no longer sustainable for me.
It won’t be long until we can let you know what comes next, but in the meantime we need to clear our storefront. We’ll be running sales now through Sunday on drinks, merchandise, and store fixtures. We’re offering discounts between 10%-50% so you can stock up before our hiatus.
In case I don’t see you this weekend, please know how grateful I am for your support and how proud I am to serve such a wonderful community. Super special thanks to all of our brand partners who have been invaluable to our success over the last 3 years.
What a cool thing we’ve built together. 💜
Cheers,
Jillian

Back in stock! Celebrating Summer Solstice with flavors of the tropics. 🌴🍹☀️
We’re calling it: it’s the summer of canned cocktails! ☀️ Easy to carry, ready-to-drink, and so many flavors to choose from … what could be simpler?
There’s a new Negroni in town (Newgroni?) and it does not disappoint! Perfectly bittersweet and lightly sparkling with notes of juniper and citrus. We’re feeling more Italian already…
Due to the many operational challenges we’re currently facing, we’ve made the decision to temporarily reduce our hours until the storm passes.
We know you have the option to find nonalc products at larger retailers these days, and we thank you for continuing to support our little neighborhood shop.
Without you, there’s no us 💜
Nonalcoholic popsicle, anyone? Our fridge went into overdrive last night and this is how we found it this morning 🧊 Like most businesses affected by the construction on Sunset, we’re in a fragile financial time already. Losing inventory or making hefty equipment repairs are the last things we need at a time like this. We love our neighborhood and we love our community, but being a small business in Silver Lake right now is ROUGH.
We appreciate those of you who keep coming in, despite the road conditions. You’re truly the ones keeping us afloat right now! 🙏🤍
Someone sent me this photo of a woman drinking a Negroni and referencing a “sober curious lifestyle” wanting to know my thoughts, so here they are:
First of all, zero judgement of this person who’s enjoying an afternoon cocktail in Paris. It looks delicious and, honestly, the alcoholic in me is a little jealous.
Having said that… I’ve always hated the phrase “sober curious.” OBVIOUSLY, I fully support anyone who wants to cut back on drinking, but in general people who identify as “sober curious” are not actually curious about being sober. Sober doesn’t mean drinking less, it means not drinking at all. Ever.
Perhaps I’m protective of the sober label because it’s something I’ve worked hard to earn. I currently have 5 years under my belt but I’ve relapsed twice before, both times trying to drink “just a little”. To me, the phrase feels dismissive of the fact that sober people can’t dabble. Sober people can’t limit themselves to one glass or only drink on the weekends. Sober people can’t treat themselves to a little hard liquor at 4pm.
Unfortunately, we live in a culture where alcohol is the norm and any deviation from that requires an explanation – believe me, I get that. But do we actually need a whimsy term for cutting back? Is there another phrase we can use that doesn’t trivialize the absolutism of sobriety?
I’d love to know what y’all think...
(Also, if you know who this woman is, we’d love to send her some nonalc goodies! 💜)
What’s better than an Aplós canned cocktail? TWO Aplós canned cocktails!
🍹 Chili Margarita: Aplós Arise, Persian lime, orange habanero, and sea salt
🍸 Ume Spritz: Aplós Calme, ume plum, oroblanco grapefruit, white tea, and sea buckhorn
Spin the bottle, but we all kiss 😘
REAL TALK: the construction on Sunset Blvd is having a major impact on small businesses up and down the road. Traffic jams, limited parking, and endless sidewalk hazards have made it difficult for our customers to reach us. Independent businesses like ours operate on thin margins as it is, and a drastic drop in revenue can quickly lead to reduced inventory, staff layoffs, or worse. We know it’s not the most convenient, but we need your support now more than ever. The city is telling us it could be several *months* before the work is completed.
To make things easier, we’re waiving delivery fees for online orders over $99. If you can’t come to us, we’ll send a driver to you.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you, and for keeping us whole while we face these challenges. 💜 We love y’all so dang much.

Back in 2019 was my gateway to nonalcoholic cocktails. At the time I was skeptical about NA spirits but the packaging was so cute I figured it would at least make a nice bar accessory even if it sucked. Fortunately, it did not suck at all and gave me a delightful feeling of euphoria I’d never experienced with alcohol ✨ For making me a believer, High Rhode will always remain near and dear to my heart 💞
