The events that unfolded in the past week have not only called for reflection, but also warrant immediate action.

SALEF publicly asks for Councilmember Gil Cedillo and Councilmember Kevin de Leon to resign.

While we have recognized these leaders in the past for being champions of our communities, we believe in restorative justice. We look to our city leadership to listen to the cry of our communities.

There is no room for anti-Blackness, anti-Indigenous and homophobic hate in Los Angeles. These sentiments betray the trust of the communities we serve. We have a tough road ahead as a community and as a city.

SALEF has worked with over 100 Central American vendors that vend along Vermont between 11th and 12th. This area has been historically known as the Salvadoran Corridor which is designation that highlight the visibility of the Salvadoran diaspora in Los Angeles.

The vendors have organically organized and need our community to support their efforts.

Today we celebrated the opening our AT&T Learning Center at .

AT&T has 20 learning centers nationwide and will be home to 1 of 3 center in Los Angeles.

This partnership will allow us to mitigate the loss of learning for students of color through tutoring and mentoring.

Today , the Salvadoran American Leadership and Educational Fund, and Clínica Msr. Oscar A. Romero hosted a Town Hall on campus with the United States' Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs and Special Envoy for the Northern Triangle, Ricardo Zúñiga.

This Town Hall is part of a series of conversations with the diasporic communities of Los Angeles in preparation for the of the Americas. The United States State Department is engaging various communities of Latin America and the Caribbean to hear firsthand their ideas for a more equitable future for the region.
