Timeless traditions, modern techniques!

Though it has gained a lot of popularity in recent years, Lime Wash is not new. In fact, it’s a material that has been used for thousands of years - traced all the way back to Egypt, Greece and Rome. Traditionally, it has been a practical way to coat and alter exterior surfaces, especially masonry.

Fast forward to today and we see this beautiful adaptation combining a use of Lime Wash on modern and traditional surfaces side-by-side. Beautifully designed by the team at 👏

Our Lime Wash is a traditional lime-based finish. This natural brush-applied coating dries to create a beautiful weathered patina with subtle movement and natural color variation that softens and streaks with age.

Used brilliantly here as a subtle bridge between textures, and a stand out all its own. This color, Mission, is a light, warm cream with a subtle peach undertone that plays beautifully with the natural elements of this space.

A little tour of ’s new LA office | by 🤍

We are excited to have partnered with Erick Garcia () and on this stunning project! Three different shades of Lime Wash were used throughout the space, inspired by Rhode’s packaging, to create a textural contrast and enhance the monochromatic aesthetic. The space is a physical manifestation of the rhode brand: the design is intentional and minimal, just like rhode’s edited product assortment. The monochromatic tones are reflective of the brand’s visual identity altogether.

Portola co-founder Jamie Davis and SKU founder David Mullen have admired and supported one another’s endeavors for a long time - it wasn’t until recently that the two connected and hatched the idea for this organic collaboration:

“I have been a fan of SKU for well over 10 years. I love the quality, colors and love that everything is made in LA. Until recently I had no idea that the founder, David, was actually a big fan of Portola. He recently moved back to LA and was in the process of designing a few new stores and came into the shop to pick out a Roman Clay color for the interior. We met, had a coffee and came up with the idea of matching Portola colors in his beautiful shirts.”
