💜 Ube is a purple yam native to the Philippines 🇵🇭 The flavor of ube is generally sweet and mild, often described as having mellow notes, a nutty essence, and a nearly vanilla-like quality.

Here’s ’s Ube Mochi Waffles with Black Sesame and Coco Jam 🧇 Without using any standard syrup, these ube mochi waffles are taken to the next level with .fare Black Sesame Crunchy Butter and Coconut Spread.

📌 For the waffles (2 servings)
Rooted Fare Black Sesame Crunchy Butter
Pika Pika Coconut Spread
3/4 cups milk
1 1/4 cup mochiko flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon ube extract
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Whipped cream
Coconut flakes

In one bowl, mix together all the dry ingredients and add in the wet ingredients. Whisk until smooth. Add cooking spray to waffle iron and cook 3-5 minutes. Slather Black Sesame Crunchy Butter and Coconut Spread onto waffles. Top with whipped cream and coconut flakes.

Did you know that co-founders Kenny and Katrina are children of nurse 👩🏻‍⚕️ immigrants? Their moms immigrated during the time when the Filipino population in the U.S. 🇺🇸 soared from 774,652 to 1,406,77 (1980 - 1990).

Here’s to the immigrant nurses and moms, often sent to hospitals 🏥 where it is difficult to recruit American-born nurses, facilities that are frequently understaffed and under-resourced. We see you and we appreciate you. 💙

To those of us children of immigrants, navigating cultural differences, teenage angst, when we just wanted to fit in. What a journey! Whether we followed in our parents footsteps as healthcare workers, or decided on a path, that may be unfamiliar and can feel scary AF for them, we hope they’re proud!
