The Golden One
Jung Kook of BTS
Worldwide Success

https://youtu.be/UNo0TG9LwwI?si=UfJDkzGWnvXFRiKW

If you have never heard of BTS my guess is you live a very sheltered life.

BTS is the most significant boy band ever assembled in the world. The number 7 is important to them because they are 7 in number.

The young men of BTS have been together performing to sold out stadiums around the globe. Hundreds of awards for the band as a unit and to individual band members for their unique talents from song writing, dancing, producing, vocals, rapping and covering music genres, soul, R&B, jazz, and rapping.

Jung Kook pictured here is the youngest member of BTS and has broken records with his new album Golden.

Up for numerous awards the album includes no less than 4 number one hits, 7, 3D, Standing Next to You and Don’t Change.

Jung Kook has made appearances on GMA, the Today Show, Jimmy Fallon and a free concert in Times Square.

Standing Next to You is a breakaway hit with a video that plays homage to Michael Jackson with a flawless performance by Jung Kook and his backup dancers.

The sets, lighting, costumes and concept are fresh blending genera’s seemlessly with a performance by Jung Kook that has hearts a flutter, his smooth strength, the ease with how he moved across the floor makes grown straight men swoon.

Jung Kook turns heads and has you dancing in your seat. His homage to Michael Jackson is respectful with his own stamp on it that has the viewer wanting more. Wanting not just to watch him dance, because watching him dance is such a sensual joy. However, he lets us see more of who he is when he’s not moving sensuously.

Jung Kook the man has grown up before our eyes and the videos and performances brought through Golden have brought him full circle from teenage boy to a complex, educated, entertainment business and singing, dancing, composing professional.

Sometime this month Jung Kooks life will be turned over to the armed services where he will be in the employ of the South Korean government.

The saddest part of all of this is he has personally reached a height so high there is no other artist in history that has achieved this as an individual in such a short time. Golden dropped in November and it’s already Platinum. All this to say he won’t be able to tour the world now because of his service.

We will wait for Jung Kook and BTS to come back. I can assure you the Army (fans) will keep them safe in their hearts and will continue to listen to their music watch the videos and greet them with love at every opportunity.

BTS and the machine- organization that produces them has accomplished the extraordinary. There is so much to learn about each member of the band. How they have lived together, attended school and worked on their craft along with solo activities and hobbies to make them well rounded individuals.

The band is generous and has given to a multitude of charities around the world including social justice groups like several million dollars to Black Lives Matter.

Back to the status of the music right now…

Jung Kook’s “Standing Next to You” soars in at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. songs charts (dated Nov. 18). He achieves the third solo leader for a BTS member on each survey, following his own “3D” with Jack Harlow, and “Seven” featuring Latto.

The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts, which began in September 2020, rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by Luminate. The Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the United States.

Chart ranks are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations.

Jung Kook’s “Standing Next to You” starts at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, with 81.6 million streams and 121,000 sold worldwide Nov. 3-9, following its Nov. 3 release. (In addition to its original version, seven mixes of the song arrived Nov. 6: its Future Funk, Holiday, Latin Trap, PBR&B and Slow Jam remixes and its Band Version and instrumental version.)

Jung Kook, from South Korea, earns his third Global 200 No. 1, and the third solo leader for a BTS member; it’s the first with no accompanying acts. Here’s a rundown, ranked by peak position, of BTS members’ 10 Global 200 top 10s outside the act, with BTS as a group having tallied 11 top 10s, including seven No. 1s:

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Jean Knight, a New Orleans-born soul singer known for her 1971 hit “Mr. Big Stuff,” has died at 80.

Family, friends, fans and veterans of the music world mourned the loss of the Grammy-nominated singer who was considered a musical powerhouse and an integral part of New Orleans’ cultural legacy.

Knight died Wednesday of natural causes in Tampa, Florida, where she was living, said family representative Mona Giamanco. She confirmed the death to The Associated Press on Monday afternoon.

Jean Knight’s legacy is not just a musical one; it is a testament to the enduring love between an artist, her hometown and the fans who adored her,” the singer’s family said in a statement.

Knight got her start by singing in her cousin's New Orleans bar shortly after graduating from high school. In the early '70s she recorded “Mr. Big Stuff" — a sassy and soulful chart-topping anthem that became known for the infectious refrain of “Who do you think you are?”

The song reached No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B chart and No. 2 on the Billboard 200 pop chart, earning Knight a Grammy nomination for best female R&B vocal performance in 1972. The Stax Museum of American Soul Music said in a news release that Knight was Stax Records' top-selling female artist.

Knight got her start by singing in her cousin's New Orleans bar shortly after graduating from high school. In the early '70s she recorded “Mr. Big Stuff" — a sassy and soulful chart-topping anthem that became known for the infectious refrain of “Who do you think you are?”

Following the success of “Mr. Big Stuff,” Knight went on to record several more albums — including ones that featured songs “(Don’t Mess With) My Toot Toot” and “Bill" — and formed her own label, Comstar.

Reginald Toussaint was an engineer for one of Knight's albums and even helped mix a song that his father — musical legend Allen Toussaint — wrote for it. Reginald Toussaint went on to become friends with Knight, whom he described as a “wonderful woman.”

“She was genuinely a nice person with a gentle spirit ... whenever I saw her she was always smiling,” said Toussaint, the executive director of production for the New Orleans Jazz Fest and Essence Music Festival.

Knight spent years touring and performing locally, both on large festival stages and in more intimate French Quarter venues.

In addition to her soulful, sassy and joyful performances, among family and friends she was known as a mother and grandmother who loved cooking Creole dishes and celebrating Mardi Gras.

Information about her funeral arrangements was not immediately available.

Mr. Big Stuff

Lyrics

Oh, yeah
Ooh
Mr. Big Stuff
Who do you think you are
Mr. Big Stuff
You're never gonna get my love
Now because you wear all those fancy clothes (oh yeah)
And have a big fine car, oh yes, you do now
Do you think I can afford to give you my love (oh yeah)
You think you're higher than every star above
Mr. Big Stuff
Who do you think you are
Mr. Big Stuff
You're never gonna get my love
Now I know all the girls I've seen you with
I know you broke their hearts one after another now, bit by bit
You made 'em cry, many poor girls cry
When they try to keep you happy, they just try to keep you satisfied
Mr. Big Stuff, tell me, tell me
Who do you think you are
Mr. Big Stuff
You're never gonna get my love
I'd rather give my love to a poor guy that has a love that's true (oh yeah)
Than to be fooled around and get hurt by you
'Cause when I give my love, I want love in return (oh yeah)
Now I know this is a lesson Mr. Big Stuff you haven't learned
Mr. Big Stuff, tell me
Who do you think you are
Mr. Big Stuff
You're never gonna get my love
Mr. Big Stuff
You're never gonna break my heart
Mr. Big Stuff
You're never gonna make me cry
Mr. Big Stuff, tell me
Just who do you think you are
Mr. Big Stuff
You're never gonna get my love
Mr. Big Stuff
You're never gonna break my heart
Mr. Big Stuff
You're never gonna make me cry
Mr. Big Stuff, tell me, tell me
Just who do you think you are
Mr. Big Stuff
You're never gonna get my love
