One of the difficult, long-term consequences of tooth loss is the shifting of teeth. In this case, tooth loss has caused shifting of the lower molars forward and upward creating an uneven bite for chewing. It is very difficult to move these molars back into proper position with orthodontics.

To treat this situation, the molars were extracted and replaced with dental implants to level and stabilize the bite. This creates a more efficient and comfortable chewing surface.

Before and after images of an All-on-6 restoration to replace all of the upper teeth. 6 implants were used to support an implant bridge. The difference here is being able to customize the tooth shape, shade and overall esthetics with our in-office lab technician. This collaboration allows us to create natural appearing implant restorations for the patient.

This patient’s upper teeth needed replacement due to severe periodontal bone loss. After extraction, 4 implants were placed into the upper jaw to support a full-arch, implant supported bridge (All-on-4).

Notice the dark, stained borders at the gum line of the veneers in the top picture. The veneers were removed and the teeth were prepared for crowns. During this process, the stain and decay was removed and the margins of the crowns were prepared slightly under the gum line. This hides the junction between the new crown and the tooth as shown in the bottom picture.

This patient had 2 implants placed to replace 2 upper molars. These implants were placed in proper positions to create naturally appearing crowns. The middle picture shows the custom abutments that were made to connect the crowns to the implants. The patient is now able to chew and function normally again.

Sometimes a patient will come to you complaining about the appearance of their teeth…like in this case. Old crowns were replaced to improve tooth shape, shade and her smile!

This patient has a history of cleft lip and palate. Replacement with a dental implant was not possible and a 3-unit bridge was the best treatment option. This also allowed for the use of pink porcelain to restore the gum contour. Thank you to for the referral and careful soft tissue management!

Various implants placed over the years. Splinting helps in these situations to create a stable/solid prosthesis.
