a little throwback to good ol’ covid times…
wow, what a blur.

we completely forgot about this and funny enough, actually never realized this article had been published.

we did a Travel + Leisure article few years back (2021), with masks and plexiglass shielding in full swing. and just a few months prior to the interview, we just had our baby girl! our daughter was actually in the back kitchen sleeping (thank goodness!) during the whole interview and photoshoot; a true asian business over here haha!

fast forward, today is our 7 year shop anniversary!

we can’t help but but take a step back, reminisce on the past few years and the wild rollercoaster it has been… *better analogy would be the old rickety sketchy og wooden rollercoasters at six flags or knotts.

to own and run a small business, it only continues to get harder and harder to operate with all of the demands it requires (the always increasing cost of goods (simultaneously with a pressure to keep prices down for customers), increased labor costs, fluctuating coffee trends and the ever changing coffee community)?
on top of that, we have witnessed so many changes growing up in LA and being part of the Ktown community; the good, the bad and truth be told, the ugly too.

Resilience. it seems to be the perfect word for what we get to exercise on the daily. you certainly need it in this industry… and getting up every dawn and be able to do what we get to do; make coffee for the people.

of course, that comes with a million other “roles” as small shop owners.
yet we still believe in the “dream.” The dream to continue to serve you all coffee, help get your day started and hopefully make you feel at “home” while you’re here and think - authenticity still is a thing and honest work exists.

this article is the perfect reminder of what LA means to us. It’s just… Us.
