For over 25 years, Momentum Wheels for Humanity has been working alongside people with disabilities, local stakeholders, and national governments to strengthen physical rehabilitation services and increase access to life-changing assistive products in Latin America and the Caribbean. Risk and disaster prevention for people with disabilities!
"Risk and disaster prevention for people with disabilities!" 🇸🇻San Salvador, El Salvador: As part of our efforts to reduce the risks for people with disabilities during disasters and emergencies, we recently led a multi-day meeting to review national-level policies and procedures for the management of disability-inclusive disaster response protocols, with a focus on evacuation procedures and AT for accessible emergency shelters. Recommendations for improving disability inclusiveness will be developed from the evaluations and through stakeholder interviews and focus groups.
