Announcing the 3 Cooking for a Cause participants! From top to bottom: Ximón Wood, Desiree Flores, and Diana Ramirez-Hernandez.

Ximón aspires to be a chef who explores the culinary world, learning from diverse cuisines globally. They aim to become an Executive Chef with a global vision, mastering East Asian, Mediterranean, and Mexican/Latin American dishes. Ximón takes pride in baking, particularly their biscuits, and enjoys crafting chicken, beef, and seafood dishes. This is their first culinary competition, and they are excited to support the local community while showcasing their culinary talents.

Desiree, a self-taught chef, draws inspiration from her grandmother and her upbringing in East LA. She blends Latino and Asian culinary traditions to create unique dishes through her brand, Dear Mama LA. Known for her signature Chili Oil 7, Desiree is dedicated to sustainability and community. She aims to expand her reach, launch a product line, and open a community space in Boyle Heights for culinary workshops. Her plant-based Mexican cuisine and commitment to preserving traditions and uplifting the community make her a passionate and innovative competitor.

Diana’s dream is to become an Executive Chef and eventually open her own restaurant featuring both savory and sweet dishes. Inspired by the movie “Ratatouille,” Diana has fallen in love with French cuisine and pastries. Diana is both a savory and sweet enthusiast, with Coq Au Vin and Macaroons being her specialties. With a passion for cooking and a sweet tooth, she loves creating homemade sweets. Diana’s versatility and eagerness to learn make her a formidable competitor.
