Safety Covid Measures

We have implemented safety mandates from the state for the salon. Masks required. When you come in you’ll be greeted at the door by your stylist, she will take your temperature, You will sanitize your hands and then use a sterilized pen to sign a waiver and a questionnaire answering questions about any symptoms or experiences with Covid. You will then place the pen in a different container so it can be sterilized. Your stylist will then walk you back to her station. We don’t have people wandering around the salon, we are only allowed one client with the stylist at a time. Our air system is very superior. We bring in fresh air from the outside and then it removes the old air. We have special filters on all vents and out take vent as well. We have the windows and doors open to dilute the air. So my suggestion to our clients is to dress in layers, because it can be colder in the salon than usual. Unfortunately we’re not serving drinks or any sort of goods to eat at this time. Also your stylist’s station and every piece of equipment including your stylist’s drapes are sanitized And they only use them on one person and then it goes into the laundry. Everything is sanitized after each use, even the shampoo bowls. Your Stylist will send you back to their chair, and then will sanitize every surface touched at the shampoo bowl so it is sanitized for the next person coming in. Lastly all stations are at least 6 feet apart. Rest assured that everyone is complying with all of the safety measures as well as we have a person in the salon that is going around and doing extra sanitizing. Yeah, no thanks for the privilege of cutting hair outside in a parking lot with gas fumes, 90 degree weather, and no safe blow drying. This is offensive to my profession. We have jumped over hoops to insure the utmost sterile, sanitized salons and followed through with every expensive demand PPE because we value our lives and our families and clients. Only to be closed even though no deaths are linked to open salons in california. I can’t imagine charging clients for what I would regularly, to do a haircut in this sub-par manner, also charging my awesome renters, even if I had the parking lot space, there’s no way they would make enough money just doing haircuts to pay rent, much less feed their families. However, I can see for some people this will work out, and some people will still do other types of services not allowed , and some people will do clients at their homes and some people will choose to do nothing. And some people will continue to do hair inside their own boarded up salons made to feel like boot legging “criminals”. I don’t judge anybody trying to make a living and feed their family. I only judge the politicians and decision makers who know nothing about our industry, and lump us together with Bars and Football stadiums, making these poor decisions for all the hairdressers and barbers without evidence that it is harmful for us or our clients to do hair.
