We are offering Covid-19 nasal swab testing to everyone in the Louisville community. No need to wait in long lines to get tested! Dr. Sarah Moyer, Jefferson County Chief Health Strategist, now recommends that anyone grocery or retail shopping, traveling, eating out at restaurants or attending events where social distancing is difficult, get Covid19 tested once a week.

Just call our office to schedule a time convenient for you to stop by our office parking lot, get swabbed and drive away! No leaving your car! You do not need to be a current patient at our office! Tell your family and friends that we will be happy to get them tested too. We will bill your health insurance plan. Most insurance plans cover Covid-19 testing. (Please check with your plan before testing to be sure.)

If you are a current patient with us or not, once you test at our office you are set for future Covid-19 testing as many times as you need. Just call our office and drive up!

Let’s be safe during this pandemic and take care of one another!
Call our office to get scheduled, or if you have any questions!

Update on COVID 19 virus procedures
We hope all of you are continuing to stay well during these unforeseen times. We wanted to provide a further update on the COVID 19 virus procedures at Louisville Lifestyle Medicine.
We are still open but with a few further changes.
First, we are suspending any aesthetics services, as ordered by Governor Beshear, since these are non-essential services. We will be in contact with you regarding upcoming appointments and will work with all our aesthetic patients to reschedule appointments as soon as it is safe to do so.
Second, we are still asking ill patients to call the office first. We do have LabCorp staff onsite at certain times throughout the week so patients can continue having blood work drawn if needed. We will have a limited number of COVID-19 specimen collection kits onsite. LabCorp has a limited number available to test each day and we are following CDC guidelines by triaging patients by phone first to determine if testing is needed. Testing for patients without symptoms is a low priority. Symptomatic patients are prioritized based on hospitalization, healthcare workers, long-term health facilities, age, and first responders. Anyone not meeting these criteria with symptoms is next to lowest priority.
Third, United Healthcare has joined Medicare in offering covered telehealth services. Please check with your insurance provider for further information. We will remain open to see medical patients but understand some patients should not go outside unless necessary. If you have any questions, then please call the office.
Fourth, we had to adjust our hours that the facility will be staffed. However, we will continue to monitor phone messages throughout the day during regular business hours. If you call during our regular business hours posted on our website then your message will be returned. Since we still have previously schedule office visits, we will adjust our facility staffed hours based on need. We ask that only patients with appointments visit the office and any essential family member taking care of that patient. We ask that all others please call the office to schedule an appointment so we can space them out appropriately.

Please follow Governor Beshear's shelter-in-place orders. Recent deaths in the US have included healthy 44 and 37 year olds. The quicker we stop the spread of this virus the faster we can start to provide some normalcy for everyone.

Best of health you everyone.

Update on COVID 19 virus procedures
We hope all of you are staying well during these unforeseen times. We wanted to provide an update on the COVID 19 virus procedures at Louisville Lifestyle Medicine.
First, WE ARE OPEN. We are a healthcare facility and will remain open through this epidemic. We did send out a notice regarding ill patients and will continue to follow guidelines to triage ill patients by phone initially and then determine if there is a need to visit the office. Fortunately, for those that have Medicare, this will be a covered option for any office visit (i.e. following up for high blood pressure). If you have Medicare and have an appointment scheduled within the next two months, then call the office and we can covert that appointment to a telehealth visit if you would like.
Second, we are following and exceeding all CDC guidelines with regards to sanitizing equipment, furniture, countertops, door handles, employee protocols, etc. in the building. As many of you have seen, we have a large facility and this allows for all in the building to follow the social distancing guidelines due to our patient schedule.
Third, we do encourage patients to continue following up for their regularly scheduled office visits. This promotes better health for our patients and decreases the risk of adverse effects of COVID 19 in the event someone would be infected.
Fourth, while many of us will NOT be infected by COVID 19, there are some significant health risks that will be associated with the social distancing policies. This includes a lowered immune system, weight gain, limited activity, psychosocial issues, anxieties, depressions, panic attacks, and cardiac issues. If you are experiencing any of these issues, then please call the office so we can help. Here are some suggested health boosting tips.
• Taking a probiotic on a daily basis helps boost the immune system.
Entero-CR has graciously offered a special discount to our patients for their
pharmaceutical grade probiotics. Visit Entero-CR.com and type in discount code:
GUT502.
• Take the time to go outside on a daily basis. This is a very helpful stress reduction technique. Enjoy fresh air, take in nature, and leave thoughts at home.
• Eat more vegetables and fruits. This will provide you with important nutrients to help boost your overall health and keep the weight down.
• Avoid inflammatory foods like sugars, processed meats, red meats, dairy, and highly processed carbohydrates. This can lead to a worsening of depressions and anxieties.
• Since gyms are closed you will need to find other forms of exercise. A walk around the neighborhood will help. Even body weight exercises such as pushups, lunges, and sit ups will help keep the muscles tone. For those who had the excuse of no time to exercise, well here is your chance. Exercise improves endorphins by up to 40%.
• Financial strains will be a problem for many. This can lead to anxieties, depression, panic attacks, and unfortunately su***de thoughts. If you are experiencing any of these issues, then please call our office for assistance. If you have any thoughts of su***de please call Su***de Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255. The website is su***depreventionlifeline.org for online chat and texting information. Remember will all need help at this time and asking for assistance is normal.

CDC Works 24/7 03/15/2020

Here is our guide to the current concerns about Coronavirus: 10 Mar 2020

1) Do not panic. While the threat to some people, depending on immune status, may be potentially significant, the threat to the vast majority of people is far lower than it may seem from watching the news or viewing the internet.
2) If you have been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or you have traveled recently to China, Italy, Iran, South Korea or Japan AND have symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath) contact the office. There are procedures we are to follow. The health departments are not testing, so do not show up at your local health department.
3) Wash your hands. Sanitizing grocery carts or commonly touched items is not a bad idea (ever).
4) Keep your immune system strong with a diet that is full of whole foods, and very limited processed foods.
5) Get outside and exercise. Take a walk or a jog if you are so inclined.
6) Get enough sleep and find ways to manage your stress.
7) Fear suppresses your immune system. So does a low vitamin D level. So fear not, and take your vitamin D.
8) If you have a suppressed immune system, consider staying out of crowded environments, as you should normally do during flu season.
9) Since the COVID-19 virus has several symptoms of other upper respiratory infections it is best to call our office if you are feeling ill before coming into the office. We will give you further instructions.

We recommend you use the www.CDC.gov website, and remember that if you use the WHO website, they deal with the health of the whole world, whose health systems are very different than the system in the US.

800-722-5725 is the number for the KY Coronavirus hotline.

Stay Well.
