Women who donate their eggs without a recipient in mind are called non-directed egg donors. Below are the steps for prospective parents to be matched with a non-directed egg donor.
🥚 First, you will meet with Angie, our egg donor coordinator.
🥚 You will get to see photos of what the egg donor looked like as a baby/toddler, child and teenager. You will learn about her physical appearance, any personal or family medical history, her hobbies and educational background, and if she has donated eggs before.
🥚 All of our egg donors have undergone a thorough screening, including questionnaires, labs, ultrasound, FDA evaluation for communicable diseases and a mental health assessment.
🥚 Because this is a non-directed donation, the recipient will not know who the egg donor is.
🥚 Once a patient or couple has been matched with a donor, an egg retrieval calendar will be made that works for both parties.
🥚 The recipient can choose whether you want a fresh embryo transfer (without genetic testing), or have the embryos frozen for a transfer in the future, and if you would like to do genetic testing on the embryos.
🥚 On the day of egg retrieval from the donor, a s***m sample from the partner (or donor s***m) will be needed to fertilize the donor eggs.
🥚 All of the eggs retrieved will belong to the prospective parents.
🥚 After that, the intended parents will be updated by our embryologist on the development of their embryos, and what the next steps will be.
