A safe place for immigrants and refugees to receive a wide variety of support; including English assistance, primary/secondary education, jobs and more.
From working at the previous African Assistance Center of Lowell and the International Institute of New England (IINE Lowell), founder and Executive Director Gordon Halm realized that there was a significant lack of services offered to new refugees to Lowell. Refugees are only supported for a certain period of time, and many immigrants arrive to the country with virtually no assistance whatsoever.

Pictured here with our CEO and Assistant are Cheryl Glenn, Nicole Clourette, and Laura Tambone from Parker. We hope to do a presentation to their staff on Accl programs and resources in the near future.
ACCL shared stories of struggle and resilience for Black History Month through words, music, and dance. Countries represented at this event were Brazil, Cambodia, Congo, Ghana, Kenya,Liberia, Nigeria, South Sudan, and Uganda. The word of the day was/is ACTION !!
Ghana's Independence Day and Flag Raising Ceremony
ACCL is partnering with UMASS Lowell for our second session of Computer Literacy class. The class runs for six weeks and students who complete the class get a certificate and a chrome book to keep.

2023 Summer Program
Highlights from 2023 Summer Program
Members and volunteers at the Center learned about African traditions, drumming and singing, visiting African shops and playing African games. With the assistance of Martin Boadi, a professional African Drummer, the Center enjoyed authentic historical background to African music, drumming and culture.
Educators Around the World
Thanks to Steven and Joanna Levy, ACCL members and volunteers joined educators from all over the United States including a teacher from Indonesia for a night of African folktales, storytelling, music and dance.
