Meet SymptoPro instructor, Laura Chapin!

Laura and her husband, Nick, first learned SymptoPro early in their marriage while they were living in Portland, OR. Working as a social worker, Laura already had a strong passion for supporting and strengthening families. As soon as she learned the SymptoPro method, Laura fell in love with it, enjoying both the usefulness for avoiding and achieving pregnancy and the beauty of empowering women (and couples!) to understand their bodies in a more intimate way. She slowly made her way through the training and certification over the next few years. Upon moving to Michigan in 2016, Laura connected with a social service agency run by the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist in Lowell, MI that was already providing another method of NFP. They were committed to providing high quality NFP services in the area and hired Laura to add another method to their offerings. Together with her colleague, Laura has helped develop a multi-disciplinary NFP program that provides NFP classes and support services to women at various stages of their reproductive lives, including infertility support groups. She continues to live in West Michigan with her husband and three young children.

Bishop Walkowiak has asked our diocese to participate in the Day of Prayer and Fasting on Tuesday, October 17, called by the Latin Catholic patriarch of Jerusalem, for peace and reconciliation in the Holy Land.

Our Franciscan Sisters are always looking for better ways to support God's creation! Thank you Rebel Pastures for the tour!

There are some things in your adult life that you never conceive… Taking Sisters on a tour of our regenerative farm - that hits top of the list. But this was one of my favorite farm tours yet.

These ladies are from the Franciscan Life Process Center in Lowell, MI. The center runs many programs that focus on music, art and the land. In fact, several schools in the area participate in their Environmental School. Students visit the center for three weeks during the school season (one week each season) to learn about the land stewardship, animals care, and working hard.

They came to learn about how we raise our animals, care for them and use them to regenerate the soil. Grace, who worked with us last summer, orchestrated the connection. They already have a lot of experience under their belts (no pun intended😉) because they are currently raising many proteins and produce for their center. Thank you Sisters for an open and honest conversation. Can’t wait to hear about your future endeavors!
