Bush hogged about 18 acres of mesquite/ cedar today for a landowner. Lots of prickly pear cactus too. Wore a coat but still got cactus needles in arms and chest. Fell like a pin cushion, been pulling cactus needles periodically for hours.

Finished this big chef knife tonight. It’s now on the rack drying. I made it add to a three piece chef set but I’ve decided it isn’t a good enough fit so I’ll sell it separate maybe with a round cutting board.

I made a sale on Friday I just have to share. I’ll remember it for years. A man came by with his grandson. He let him look at all the knives and they talked back and forth and asked me questions. I love it when the kids get excited with asking how and why the knives look so different. The granddad bought his grandson his first knife for his youth hunt this fall. The boy had no trouble figuring out the one he wanted. He made a great pick. I thought the grandpa was gonna need some rocks for the boys pockets he was on cloud nine. I’ll never forget his face. It’s an awesome thing to see. Made me remember when dad and I did that 52 years ago. Man I miss that man.

Three days left of the Stock show. These three days are usually the biggest days of crowds. I’m looking forward to see what happens and who I’ll see what people I’ll see from the past. I’ keep trying to load a video but it’s being stubborn

Left Tuesday morning 14 hours later I’m driving through my home town of Faith SD. Wow so many memories flood through as I drive through. My hosts are awesome as always. With any help I need and even letting me accompany them while checking cattle. Wednesday I visited with people I hadn’t seen since about 1973, also met so many new people. Had a great even of selling some knives.

A few days ago I decided to have a booth at the Faith Stock Show in Faith, SD. Today I gathered all the chef sets, magnetic boards, pigtail, ullas, gut hook and individual knives packed them into boxes. Went through all the leather sheaths cleaned them and marked the size on them. Since this started out as a hobby I’ve invested enough for just a hobby, but when you look at it from i’m going to having my first attempt at having a booth it doesn’t look like a lot of pieces. Hope to see as many old friends as possible so if you have a few minutes stop by the booth to visit.

07/03/2024

Finished these three today. It always amazes me how pieces of wood cut from one board can be so different in color.

I will be needing to bury some water line that I don’t want to use the trencher for. Has anyone build a sub soil ripper pipe layer for a skid steer that you can drive forward while using it
