With so much growing in the High Point Village garden, Michael is getting creative in how he gathers vegetables! 🫑🌶

It may be 100 degrees outside, but fall is just around the corner, and that means Afternoon Enrichment Classes are returning! Fall AEC will kick off on September 9th and run through December 4th.

From baking and scrapbooking to sports and handbells, there's something that every Villager will love! All classes have a limited number of spots available on a first-come, first-served basis.

After yesterday's Villager Olympics every Villager got to make their own medal! 🥇

Look who we found! Not one but two Villager Olympic gold medalist! 🥇🥇

To hold us over between the Olympics and the Paralympics we decided to hold our own Villager Olympics! We held an opening ceremony and multiple events from discus to soccer to dancing!

We love our volunteers! Afternoon enrichment is the perfect time to get involved with High Point Village and volunteer and spend time with the Villagers as they learn new skills in classes such as Just Dance, Woodworking and Baking!

A huge thank you all of our guest chefs who have come in this week to teach the Villagers new recipes and kitchen skills! 👨‍🍳

The Villagers kicked off August with a water day, complete with a water slide and snow cones!

Construction on the Tankersley Legacy Park is coming along! Jimmy was out this morning checking out the new shade structures!

For one night only, the High Point Luau is open for business! Join us August 9th for a Hawaiian themed Respite Night complete with snow cones, limbo and a Moana viewing party! 🌊

Respite Nights provide socialization and recreational opportunities for Villagers ages 8 and up, as well as give caregivers an evening to themselves.

Camp Gourmet and Camp Create are just two weeks away, and spots are filling up!

Camp Gourmet | August 5th-8th | 10am-12pm | $70 | Ages 18+
Calling all Villagers who love to cook, Camp Gourmet will offer fun for all! Villagers will be able to learn different cooking skills, enhance their fine motor skills and socialize with their peers. Each day of camp there will be a different guest teaching the Villagers a new recipe.

Camp Create | August 5th-8th | 1pm-3pm | $60 | Ages 18+
Come join the fun at Camp Create! This innovative art camp will have your Villager learning new techniques as well as building new friendships. We are excited to explore this creative space with your Villager.

Women's Weekend is officially full and we couldn't be more excited! There's still two spots left for the men's weekend, so make sure to register your Villager as soon as possible! Reach out to Natalie Hendrix, [email protected] with any questions.

Abundant Life Weekends are returning in August! Women’s Weekend: Friday, August 16th through Sunday, August 18th.

Men’s Weekend: Friday, August 30th through Sunday, September 1st.

Abundant Life Weekends is an overnight respite service through High Point Village which provides extended respite for caregivers and an enriching community experience for Villagers.

Abundant Life will take place in a local AirBnB with two staff members and 3-4 Villagers. Each Villager will have their own bed and staff will sleep in a separate room. High Point vans and personal vehicles will be utilized to transport Villagers to community outings selected and agreed upon by the staff and Villagers registered for each weekend.

The cost for the full weekend, including food, staffing, shelter and activities is $275 per Villager. For more information contact Natalie Hendrix at [email protected]

Toucans and Sloths and Snakes... oh my!

Over the past several weeks the Villagers have been having a great time taking field trips to Walter's World of Pets to visit all the unique animals that they have!

Earlier this week a few of our Reach High classes got to go on a behind the scenes tour of the South Plains Mall. They had a great time exploring and learning about the history of the mall, but their favorite part was seeing the photos of Santa at the mall throughout the years!

High Point Village is proud to have been selected for The 2024 Starbucks Foundation Neighborhood Grant, thanks to Starbucks partners in the Lubbock community! We continue to be blessed by our amazing community!

We had the best time getting in the holiday spirit early and celebrating Christmas in July on Friday! The Villagers drank hot cocoa, made snow globes, sang some Christmas karaoke and even got a visit from Hawaiian Santa! 🎄

Reminder that tomorrow, July 15, Enable Dentistry will be at High Point Village at noon, 4pm and 5:30pm to visit with caregivers of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. No need to RSVP--just come to any of those Q&A sessions to get more information.

We are excited to partner with Enable Dentistry! Enable Dental works with organizations like High Point Village to reach individuals with special needs and their caregivers to offer mobile dentistry to the Intellectually and Developmentally Disabled community. Melissa Dolan from Enable Dentistry will be at High Point Village on Monday, July 15 at noon, 4pm and 5:30pm to visit with interested caregivers and answer any questions. No need to RSVP--just come to any of those Q&A sessions to get more information.

Enable Dentistry is able to work with almost any sensory need, fear, or behavioral concern and can fully adapt to what the client needs in order for IDD-trained dentists to perform dental work. They are able to come on-site to HP or even into the client's home at no extra cost. They pride themselves on the fact that they very rarely find the need for IV sedation during their dental work. They work with Medicaid waiver billing (HCS, TxHmL, and CLASS), some Medicare Advantage plans and private dental insurers, and also have low-cost private-pay options.
