Branding is most effective when you model it after the things your ideal client is looking for, not just what you think looks good or what your taste is. It's so tempting when starting a brand project to jump into all of the color palettes, logo ideas, and concepts immediately, but the best branding starts with strategy. Remember, it's about resonating with your audience, not just expressing your own vision.
This brand refresh was created for a short-term rental management company that wanted to keep their identity friendly and approachable while showcasing their Texas town. I love the color palette and graphics we created here and all of the potential each piece of the brand identity has that can impact their client experience.

A lot of people think that to be regarded as professional and experienced, their branding has to be muted and dull. This just isn't true. The thing that communicates trust and reliability most is consistency. When branding matches across all communications and platforms, customers know exactly what they're gonna get. So don't shy away from bright and bold! As long as you stick with it, it'll look great. 😉

After working with Yoder's of Pinecraft on their brand refresh, they trusted me to design a brand for their new coffee shop and bakery, Yoder's Pinecraft Roasters! I am so excited to see all of these fun elements come together in real life and will definitely be making the trip to Sarasota someday to taste their delicious pie and coffee!

What if I told you that BOTH are important and can have a huge impact on how your brand is perceived? It may sound crazy, but businesses should update their branding every 3-5 years! This doesn't mean starting from scratch, but incorporating trendy elements every so often can give your brand a facelift without compromising its recognizability. The key element here is starting off with branding that has good bones. When developing a brand, I lay the groundwork by taking a deep dive into understanding its target audience, voice, and visual identity. This strong foundation not only ensures consistency across all touchpoints but also fosters trust and loyalty among your audience. Once you've got that, you are safe to make small changes to your brand over time to keep up with trends and remain relevant to your customers.
Your brand voice is like your business's personality—it's what makes you stand out! It's all about finding your unique vibe that resonates with your audience. Think of it as the tone you use when chatting with friends. Whether you're witty and fun or serious and professional, your brand voice shapes how people see and connect with your brand.
When establishing a brand voice, ask yourself these questions:
1. If my brand was a person, what qualities would they have? How would they speak and act?
2. What emotions do we want our brand voice to evoke in our audience?
3. Who is our ideal customer, and what tone of voice would resonate best with them?
Take some time to figure out what makes your brand special, and let that shine through in everything you do!
I decided to take my film camera to Seattle last year and experiment while my husband and I explored. These images were shot on Ilford 400 film inside the staircase of the Space Needle. South Plains Food Bank has the same awesome mission with an exciting new look! SPFB is dedicated to our mission of Giving Hope, Enriching Lives, and Fighting Hunger. In honor of our 40th anniversary in 2023, we are launching a new logo to usher SPFB into the next 40 years of serving the community!
Infused with a 'have more fun' vibe, our strategy behind branding the perfectly-named men's boutique, Cavalier, embraced classic American and coastal surfer elements, and I even got to illustrate the owner's furry pup, Bear. From crafting a full branding suite to spicing up their Shopify store, working with Cavalier has been a blast! This still is from one of my first food styling jobs- I got so caught up in making sure I had all the food perfect that I forgot to make sure the "Dad" on set had a wedding band! Thankfully, that was remedied quickly and the shoot turned out great.

When Yoder's of Pinecraft contacted me for a rebrand of their classic, famous-for-their-pies and family-owned restaurant, it was a big YES. This project was so much fun to work on- and I can't wait to visit one day and have a slice of that pie! Yoders has been family owned for generations, and so we wanted to keep the original illustration of Grandma Yoder in the logo, but make everything a bit more cohesive and true to their South Florida Amish roots. The result is charming and a fresh take on the traditional.
Orange is my favorite color, so I loved styling and shooting this ad for Market Street. There's something so fun about getting to pull all the pretty packaged products off the shelf and capture the essence of the autumn season!
One of my favorite branding projects thus far for speaker, mentor and coach Shelly Harp. She wanted a fun, colorful brand that appeals to her audience of teen girls. We utilized a primary palette and a slightly retro typeface to create something punchy and youthful.
