I was blessed to get to spend quite a bit of time with her at the reunion and we had talked on the phone several times. I am truly heartbroken!,,,

Hello Fellow Plainsmen……..

It is now GO GO GO GO TIME for the Class of 1973 as we are just about one month away
from our 50th Reunion. Many of you in receipt of this email have already signed up but
for those of you still procrastinating or trying to decide, please know that we want and
need you to show up in Lubbock on June 23rd and 24th to renew friendships, catch up
with former classmates and just generally have a great time with your fellow Plainsmen.

We have had a very good response so far but our reunion won’t be complete without you
in attendance, too. We want to make sure that we have enough food and drink, enough
chairs (it is our 50th reunion) and the proper nametags with pictures and names in large
enough font that those of us that are vision-challenged can recognize all of our old friends.
Especially for those of you that are interested in playing golf, we need to make sure that we
have enough tee times and space on the golf course, so please get your spot reserved as
soon as you can so that you don’t miss out on all the fun. Also, the deadline for our block
of discounted hotel rooms (see the website) is fast approaching, so if you haven’t made your
hotel reservations, please do that as soon as possible.

Please visit our 50th Reunion website at https://bit.ly/LBKMontereyClassof1973 to register
today as this is the only way to officially sign-up for our reunion, to be counted and to let
us know that you will be here for all the fun and festivities.

Additionally, we hope you will join our special reunion page to get in on all the
pictures, conversations and other fun stuff that might show up there. You can find a link
(red banner - Join our Group - on the right side of the Home page of the reunion website)
to join our LBK Monterey Class of 1973 page as well as links on the website for you
to post information or updates about yourself or fellow classmates. We hope that both sites
will provide an interactive experience for all our classmates to begin getting reacquainted
prior to our actual reunion in June as well as reliving fun memories after the reunion is over.

The dress code is casual both nights, the food and drink will be great and the conversations will
be priceless. As they say, “the more the merrier” and we need YOU to help us make it a special
weekend. Go to our reunion website https://bit.ly/LBKMontereyClassof1973 and sign up today.
We can’t wait to see you in Lubbock on June 23rd and June 24th for a very special weekend. It’s
gonna be great!!

Thank you and GO PLAINSMEN!!!

Hello and best wishes to all our Monterey classmates of 1973…..

Please allow this email to serve as a SAVE THE DATE for our 50th Reunion. We will be celebrating
our great class and renewing friendships and relationships on the weekend of June 23 – 24, 2023.

Our Committee is working very hard to plan several fun events with the weekend kicking off on
Friday, June 23rd with a very casual, relaxed mix-and-mingle reception from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. We
will have several activities on Saturday including a tour of the Monterey building which has changed
so much since 1973, a golf outing and other potential activities capped off by a casual evening with
cocktails, dinner, live music and a short program honoring our class with lots more visiting along
with whatever else the night may bring. We need YOU to be a special part of a fun weekend.

We are working on a reunion website currently, but please watch your email for more specific
information on times, places and prices very soon. We also request your help in updating our
records so that we can communicate with as many of our classmates as possible. Attached is
our latest list of names and email addresses and we would appreciate you responding to this
email, at [email protected], with any additions, updates or corrections that you might have.
We will get them updated on our master list to ensure that those classmates receive all future
correspondence as well. Also, feel free to respond to this email with any questions or comments
that you might have.

Thanks very much and we hope to see you on June 23-24th for what we expect to be a great weekend.

Class of ‘73 Reunion

We are trying to get a list of emails for each of you.
Please update your email addresses and send them to Steve at [email protected]
Thanks and we are going to have TOO MUCH FUN!

This is the message from Steve Locke:

Subject: UPDATE: Monterey Class of '73 50th Reunion -- Next Meeting

Hello to all….

Thanks so much to all of you who attended our first planning meeting Thursday night, as well as thanks to all who were unable to attend but expressed an interest in helping out as we move forward. The more the merrier for sure and everybody is going to be needed as we start promoting the dates and events once everything is finalized. We will be having our 2nd meeting on Tuesday, February 28 at 6:00 p.m. at Kathryn Quilliam’s home at 2901 19th Street (corner of Detroit and 19th).

In summarizing our meeting of the 16th, the group favored having our 50th Reunion on either the weekend of June 16th and 17th or June 23rd and 24th, mainly depending on the availability of the venues we preferred. It was the consensus that we should have a 2-night reunion beginning with a casual get-together on Friday featuring a cash bar with medium-heavy hors d’oeuvres where people can mix, mingle and get reacquainted in a relaxed setting with no program. Saturday night will feature more visiting while also including a sit-down dinner with cash bar, a video highlighting our class, lots of photos and some live music but still in a more casual setting. There is also the
possibility of adding more events such as a tour of Monterey, a golf outing, or other activities during the day on Saturday.

We discussed the pros and cons of various venues for both nights of the proposed reunion. Among the top choices for the Friday evening party were the Depot Patio, The Cotton Court, the Underwood Center for the Arts and potentially the American Windmill Museum (a facility we have used before). The top two choices for the Saturday night party are Lubbock Country Club and The Tech Club. Various members in attendance volunteered to contact these venues to check availability, cost, size of the facility and types of food and beverage catering available. We hope to choose the final dates and venues when we meet again on the 28th as getting information out to all of our classmates is of the utmost importance. I hope those of you who were unable to attend our first meeting will also suggest and check on any other venues that you might think would be great in case we have difficulty in finding an available spot from our initial list.

We discussed the use of our own website to promote registration and to help in updating our class memorial list, to share photos, and to promote other information and activities as necessary. We also discussed using an existing page, Monterey High School Lubbock, TX Class of 1973, that has already seen good interest and activity to promote the date and events. We will also follow up on another website or page perhaps run by Mark Martinez and Jon White to promote the reunion.

I think this covers the highlights of our first meeting, but hope anybody that was in attendance will chime in with anything that I may have missed. In the meantime, please put Tuesday, February 28th at 6:00 p.m. at Kathryn’s house on your calendar and plan to join us as we finalize the dates and venues.

Thank you again…..and Go Plainsmen.

Steve Locke

02/21/2023

We have people working on getting our BIG 50TH REUNION up and running. At the moment we are looking at sometime in June. No specific dates yet because they are researching venues and availability, but one weekend in June at least gives all of us an idea so we can begin planning. Again, if you have any thoughts or suggestions, please post under this post or Instant Messenger me either on this page or my personal page. Please suggest specific ideas along with how to reach the venue and you. LET’S DO THIS!!!!!! Please contact anyone you know that may be interested and have them join this page or at least we can get them on the list! We want EVERYBODY TO COME! I will start harassing everyone more once we get specific info!

02/13/2023

I understand that Steve Locke has sent out an email to classmates that have helped on reunions in the past telling them about the first planning meeting.
If any of you are interested, the meeting will be held at Kathryn Quilliam’s home on Feb 16th @ 6:30. Her address is 2901 19th Street, Lubbock, Texas. If you would like to attend, please send an email to : [email protected]. Let’s DO THIS!

02/09/2023

Hey Fellow Plainsmen. Just got a call from Vicki Gordon and we are STILL trying to get things coordinated for our BIG 50th REUNION! We need suggestions on a date and locations for Friday night and Sat Night.
We need people to step up and offer their services!
Those of you that live n Lubbock obviously have an advantage over those of us that do not. So, please post as a comment giving me what you would suggest.
Let’s get this thing up and running like the awesome Plainsmen we are! My contact number is listed so feel free to call me or to send a text. This site was not (for some crazy reason) set up for people to post openly but you can post in comments and I will respond.

01/23/2023

OK, any of you out there willing to take this on? I can get helpers but I need someone very organized that can delegate and get things done. Unless, there are preparations I am unaware of. Do, send me a message and let’s see if we can’t get a FABULOUS 50 PARTY!

01/09/2023

Checking in on every one! Any decisions about our BIG 50 yet that I need to post?

07/20/2022

Anything going on that you would like shared? Hope all of you are having an amazing summer!

03/04/2022

I am trying to locate any of our fellow Plainsmen that we do not have listed on this page. Please help by giving us contact information (in a private message) so we can get a hold of everyone. Anybody you can think of, let me know and I will ask on this page. Do any of you have info on Randy Woodman or Nancy Gorey? Any of you guys looking for anyone? Please let me know so we can find them as well.

02/28/2022

Good morning Plainsmen. Trying to start locating any people that are not currently members in advance for our next Reunion! If you know of any people that are not on here, please contact them and get them to get added or send me the info and I will contact them. Let’s see if we can get everyone out there to attend our BIG 50! Let’s make it the BEST ONE EVER! Ironically, I have talked to a number if people that for whatever reason, do not feel welcome or that people would remember them. Any of those that did come last reunion, were amazed at how friendly and welcoming everyone is. It is so much fun to see everyone and hear all of their stories.

02/18/2022

Chime in everybody…….any news or interesting experiences to share with your fellow Plainsmen?
