Doing a little R&D on Tristyns Late Model on the go kart track.
Jim Gray third at Clarksville CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (APRIL8) — Jim Gray and the Jimmy Gray Motorsports team made its way to Clarksville (Tenn.) Speedway for a weekly 604 Crate Late Model show. After an eventful Saturday, we finished third among seven entries. We left home nearly 3 hours late after bird-dogging a starter problem on the car (we changed the starter and the battery before switching starters a second time, solving the issue). … Traffic delays in Nashville and again about 20 minutes from Clarksville put us further behind (as did running out of gas while sitting in the second traffic delay.) We finally arrived at Clarksville Speedway at 8 p.m., 2 hours after hot laps began. After missing practice and time trials, Jim started sixth in the feature. He was in second place, a straightaway ahead of third-running Lindsey Adams when Adams spun to bring out a caution with three laps remaining. The caution hurt when Jim left the door open for Travis Morgan, who had moved up to third. Contact between the two over the final two laps knocked Jim back to third at the finish. We’d like to thank Victory Fun Park Inc., Definite Wellness, Schaeffer's Oil, and Warrior Race Cars for their support.

Southern Raceway heat race
We traveled to Southern Raceway in Milton, Fla., on May 2 for a Crate Late Model event. The race drew 28 entries. We qualified 18th (they locked in the top 12) and then ran third in our heat. ... Starting 18th in the feature, Jim got a good jump on the initial start and passed three cars, but unfortunately that start was waved off due to a spin in turn two. On the next start, the fourth-place car spun in front of the field, causing an eight-car pileup in turn two that we were caught up in. Jim had a clear lane to slip by on the outside and was slowed down enough, but a car on the inside decided to make a hard right and drive over the nose of the our car. With a bent upper control arm and a bent steering wheel and quite a bit of cosmetic damage, our night was over. ... Here's a video of our heat, courtesy of the Joiners at Hunt the Front.
