You led with integrity, always - even when it was exhausting (which it often was). You are both swashbuckling and careful. You are disciplined and empathetic. "It's really important to listen to the voices of people who have been marginalized and whose voices haven't been heard. They may have something very powerful to say." Yep. You will be missed so much. Not just your intellect but also - and most hard to replace - your heart. Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement!

We're excited to announce that Dr. Andrew Steer has agreed to lead the Bezos Earth Fund as President and
CEO. Andrew has decades of experience in environmental and climate science as well as economic and social policy in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Africa. Most recently, he has been President and CEO of World Resources Institute, where he leads over 1,400 experts working to alleviate poverty while protecting the natural world. Lauren and I are thrilled to have Andrew aboard and very energized about what lies ahead for the Fund and our partners.

Today we're announcing the location of our second tuition-free preschool - this time on the campus of McCarver Elementary in Tacoma, WA. I'm a big believer in a Montessori-style education, and it's what inspires our curriculum at Bezos Academy. Our goal is to unlock the potential in kids to become creative leaders, original thinkers, and lifelong learners - regardless of their zip code or socioeconomic background.

For the third year in a row, the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund is making donations to organizations supporting families in need across the U.S. This money will directly help families get back on their feet - providing vital tools and resources, and empowering the experts in communities across the country to scale their programs.
