Happy Labor Day weekend! Where did the summer go?? Starting this Sunday, September 1, 2024 our hours are changing. We will be open from 8 :00 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday (doors are locked at 8:15, kitchen closes at 8:30), and 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 Friday and Saturday (doors are locked at 8:45, kitchen closes at 9). Our last day for the 2024 season will be Sunday, October 20. As fast as summer went, it will be here soon too! We hope to see you a few more times!

Good morning! Just so everyone is aware, our internet is down and may not be back until later today. The phone and credit card machine are down. It is spring! We are opening for the season on Thursday, April 25, 2024 for our 67th season! We will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

We are all happy to be back and anxious to see all your smiling faces! The crew is back and ready to go...come and see us soon!

You helped us do it again...another great season. We were done tonight at 5:00 p.m., when all we had was some burger and Liver and onions left :) We need to thank each of you again...you all make it easy to come to work. We raised $750 from our donation box this year! We matched the amount and sent checks to Doctors without Borders and Save the Children Fund again this year. It seems like each year there is a new crisis...hopefully we can find a way to all get along.

We cannot close without thanking our amazing staff. We were able to stay open 7 days a week all season while most businesses are closed 1-2 days a week. It is because of the great folks we have and we could not do it without each and every one.

A special shout out to two very special people. Billie and Dawn have both been with us for 35 years. Probably all of you have had Billie serve you - with her smile and personality she is one of the best. Dawn has done it all - from starting doing prep, to working the back stove to being our "star baker" for the last 15 years. Her pies and cheesecakes are a thing of beauty. These two are so very special and we wanted to let you all know.

How is it September 1st already?? Fall is in the air and that means our hours are changing. Starting Sunday, September 3, 2023 we will close Sunday through Thursday at 8:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 9:00 p.m. - still open at 8:00 a.m. daily.

Our last day for the season is quickly approaching - 6 weeks from this Sunday - October 15, 2023 - will be it. Come and see us once or a dozen times between now and then :)

Happy Memorial Day weekend! The weather has decided to resemble summer and we are changing our hours. We are now open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, open till 9:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Starting Father's Day, Sunday, June 18 we will be open to 9:00 p.m. daily for the summer.

2022 is done...how did the year pass so quickly? We want to thank each of you for your patronage. We have the best customers around!

And speaking of the best, our staff. We are very fortunate to have such a great crew year in and year out. They are each an important part of our operation and we couldn't do it without them.

Because of your generosity with our donation box on the counter, we raised $450! We are going to match that amount and send checks to Doctors Without Borders and Save the Children. It's a small way to let the rest of the world know they are not alone...

Good evening. Just want to put a rumor to rest. Word on the street is that the Darrow Family has interest in another restaurant in Mackinaw City. Rest assured - this is not the case. The only business we are affiliated with is this one - Darrow's Family Restaurant. Just wanted to set the record straight.

Happy fall! We are now closing at 8:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 8:30 on Friday and Saturday. Last call for 2022 will be Sunday, October 16th so you have just over 3 weeks to come on in! We hope to see you before the leaves are gone!

How can it be Labor Day already?? Does anyone else think the summer flew by? Because it is that time of the year, our hours are changing. We will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, open till 9:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Happy almost summer! And since it's almost summer, our hours are changing. We are now open from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. They won't change again until Labor Day so you have plenty of time. Hope to see you soon!

The highway is open again - so no more road blocks near us and hopefully no back ups on the bridge. Stop in soon!

Happy June 14th - as you may be aware, MDOT is working on I-75 and the roads near the restaurant. WE ARE STILL OPEN - although it is a little confusing with the traffic pattern right now. They working on it and it will be back to normal by Friday, June 17th.

Time is flying by---it's hard to believe Memorial Day is right around the corner. That means a couple of things - daily specials are back and our hours are changing! Welcome 2022! We are very happy to have many new faces joining us this year - both in the front and back of the house. At this time, we are not going to be doing any "to go" orders. Because we are at full seating capacity again, our priority is to those customers. We hope you understand and can join us for a table.

Who would have thought item availability would still be an issue? We are doing our best to have all of our menu items available, but it is ultimately up to the supply. Fingers crossed this too shall pass.

Where did the winter go??? One month from today - April 28, 2022 - starts our 65th year! We are anxious to see everyone again and get this season started! Same hours as before - 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 8:30 on Friday and Saturday for now. We're still not sure what the status of to go orders will be - but we will try to keep you posted.

A little clarification is needed on our part...you can still get pie and soup to go, as long as you are willing to wait if we have a line :)

Good morning....we have come to the decision to ELIMINATE TO GO ORDERS COMPLETELY AT THIS TIME. This includes phone and in person orders.

We did not come to this decision easily....if you have dined in with us, you know that this process can pull the cashier from the till for a short to long amount of time. We do not have the staff to devote to doing this alone and do not give others access to the register.

We know this will be tough for a lot of folks...but it something we think is necessary at this time. We will revisit this policy in 2022.

Again, we've given this a lot of thought...and are sorry for any inconvenience it will cause. Please join us for a table!

Good evening...I feel like we need to address our to go policy for orders.

For the last 12-15 years, we have not done to go orders after 5:00 p.m., all day on Sundays or holidays. In 2020 because we were at 50% capacity, we changed the policy. At one point we had too many orders being placed over the phone and not being picked up and paid for and asked customers to come in and place them in person.

In June of this year when we were able to offer 100% capacity, we notified folks that we were going back to the "Pre-COVID" policy. There are multiple reasons we do not do to gos after 5 p.m. First, we do not have staff available to dedicate them to doing to gos. The cashiers are responsible for taking the order, entering it for the kitchen and ensuring it is all together for the customers. There were days last year from 5-9 p.m. we were doing 40+ orders an evening. These vary from a single burger to dinners for 8-10 or more people.

When the cashier is gone for even 4-5 minutes, a line can form half way through the restaurant from customers who are have finished their meals and are waiting to pay. We don't feel it is fair to them to make them wait to pay. Now that we are at full capacity, the kitchen is very busy. We are not set up to add the additional orders for to go orders.

We pride ourselves on good service. It is disheartening to read reviews that criticize us for being full and having a wait, and not taking to go orders.

I hope you understand this a little better - the 2020 season was one for the books for many reasons and hopefully we are on our way back to doing things the way we have for many, many years.
