Our Story

Founded in 1979, Juliana’s Academy of Dance (JAOD) is an established, award-winning dance studio, commanding recognition nationwide. JAOD is the realization of the dream of founder and owner Juliana Pirpinelli. It is a passionate, collaborative, vibrant community of artists; in Miss Julie’s own words, “This is a family.”

Dancers throughout Michigan travel to Madison Heights to receive instruction in ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, modern, tap, hip hop, pointe, and acrobatics.

The studio offers an unparalleled competitive program, as well as a strong non-competitive dance curriculum for all ages and thoughtfully developed adult classes.

Our instructors teach with an awareness of each dancer’s individual needs, promoting high self-esteem and a love of learning. JAOD aims to strengthen and stimulate the mind, body, and spirit. The growth of the whole person is considered with an infusion of joy for dance in all its forms.
